I decided to make a career change due to the fact that I had always had an interest in education and training. I chose early childhood education because I feel this period in a child's life to be the most influential in the development of attitude towards education. I have a tremendous love for children and place a high standard on learning. I possess a calm attitude and natural understanding of children's needs. My belief is that each child is unique and that fundamental, basic rules are required and should be applied equally. Beyond that I believe that each child must be given opportunities to explore the environment around them and discover using the sensory and learning style that is distinctive to each child. I believe in a whole child approach and that one educational approach may not work for all children. As such, I work to foster each childs individual creativity while facilitating the socio-emotional relationships important to a child development at this age. I further believe that learning between a child and a teacher must be approached in a teamwork environment, with the caregiver showing as much interest and wonder in the environment as the child. I am a qualified Early Childhood Educator with experience working with infants and toddlers to 3-5. I have also been a Big brother for a young man now 18 since he was 8.
