I'm an
Individual
I am currently a Financial Advisor at a Canadian Financial Institution and I have been with the company for 2 years now. It\'s a great job with amazing opportunities, alas, I find myself unfulfilled. So I\'m taking a risk and looking to find purpose elsewhere. I went to University for theatre, which, when you think about it, is make believe for adults. Who knows more about make believe than our youth. -------------------------------------------- I have had experience caring of people of all ages and with all types of special needs. As a child I attended a summer camp in Grand Prairie called Camp Tamarack. It was the highlight of my youth. The camp hosted children of all ages and specialized in caregiving for kids with behavioural disorders and disabilities. I loved it so much that when I was old enough I went back there as a counsellor. Tamarack was an overnight camp that had a different specialty each week ranging from Horse camp or science camp to acting and extreme (outdoor camping). I wasn\'t just caring for one child, I was caring for 30 children! All while atop a horse, swimming in the public pool, or waking me up in the middle of the night home sick. I loved it. I was getting paid ($1 an hour - non profit) to PLAY! Outside my camp counselling career I help family and friends. My Nieces, Jacqueline and Lizzy are my joy. Jacqueline in a total introvert and will be a rocket scientist someday, and Lizzy is an artsy fartsy little gal who was born deaf and with Down syndrome. She also has Sleep Apnea and needs to be hooked up to her assisted breathing apparatus at night. I never was able to administer medication at camp as i was not a registered medical aid, however I would assist in feeding, dressing and bathing the children with sever disabilities... as well as the children who just seemed to get their food everywhere but in their mouths. Sometimes kids would come to me with problems they were facing at home, with bullies, or with their own self esteem... those were my most memorable moments. Life is hard and sometime adults forget how hard it can actually be for them. I remember. My best friend was my babysitter. She mad me feel so cool and confident. I owe a lot of who I am today, to her. I want to be that person. --------------------------------------------- \"No one has yet fully realized the wealth of sympathy, kindness and generosity hidden in the soul of a child.
