I am an energetic and driven third year University student. I have a passion for working with children and helping them to learn, grow and ultimately have fun! I have had the pleasure of working with children for the last seven years. My very first job at the age of twelve was babysitting my three year old neighbour, and from there the joy of working with children has lead me to successfully work as a program director at one of Canada's top private summer camps. I have since pursued office jobs, however, my love for children is constant. I am very patient and creative; and always eager to teach and learn. I have been babysitting since the age of twelve (I am currently twenty-one), and I have worked at an outdoor summer camp for four years. I have been responsible for watching up to 28 children at one time with the aid of another co-worker, and 8 by myself. It was one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had. I have had the opportunity to work with children between the ages of 4 and 14, watching them 5 days a week for up to 8 hours during camp and an additional 2 hours between bussing and extended care monitoring at drop off and pick up. I was responsible for planning 40 hours worth of activities (and 10 additional hours for rainy day activities) for all of my campers and ensuring that the activities are done safely and are enjoyed by all. I am certified in the Canadian Red Cross first aid, CPR and defibrillation courses as well. Every week I had the chance to work with a new group of children from any age group, and it is very common that not every child likes to engage in certain activities. I pride myself on making sure every child feels included and games are modified to accommodate any child in my group; and strongly urge inclusion. I love to be involved with all of the activities and believe that when kids see grown ups trying their best to have fun, they will be more likely to have a positive experience too!
