I am an 18 year old female who just finished her first year of DSW. I have had loads of experience with all different types of children. I am fun to be around and have made a lasting impression on people I have babysat for in the past. I try my best to keep myself available for families even after they no longer needed me or I could no longer do it. I went babysitting at a young age like most young girls. After meeting the young lady at my old high school who has Cornelia de Lange syndrome I began to really enjoy the process of watching and helping children/teens to learn and develop, this is why I got into DSW. I have over 6 years of experience babysitting children who are special needs and mainstream from birth and up. Starting around age 12. I have babysat a boy with ADHD, from the age 6 until he was 8. I also have babysat a young lady who has Cerebral palsy. At the age of 13 I began to babysit one young lady who has autism. At age 14 I began to work with a young lady who has Cornelia de lange syndrome, I included her in typical teenage activates. During this year I was opened up with many disabilities, I was in a life skills classroom. The disabilities I was opened to are Cerebral palsy,ADHD, Autism, down syndrome (these students were all non-verbal). Duties that were involved where feeding, changing, engage in daily activates, bathing, help with snack and meal time, read stories. The type of activites I made with the chilhdren where, making a fun activite with them,making a MAP(dreams of where they want to be in a couple years),made a communication book with one student ( visual schedule)
