I'm an
Individual
I am a recent graduate of Environmental Science (B......) at Trent University. I thoroughly enjoy working with people especially children. Additionally, I believe I have a specific skill set that your family would consider an asset. Through my many years as a Camp Counselor I have polished my ability to be flexible, adapt to any situation, and to take initiative on a multitude of tasks. I have been trained by the Easter Seal Organization on behavior support with young children, personal care, and risk assessment. I also have an updated First Aid with CPR-C, as well as Wilderness First Aid. My experience as Leadership Coordinator with the BC Easter Seals organization has provided me with many transferable skills that could meld into any position. Furthermore, I feel that my background and training in working with youth and children with special needs has provided me with the knowledge to adjust any program or activity in order to encompass all needs. Also, I feel my work ethic, compassion and creative nature would be an ideal fit for your family. In closing, I want to take the opportunity to thank you for your consideration of my resume and I hope that I will hear from you in the near future. Sincerely, Devon Fowler Leader in Training Coordinator May2012 to Sept 2012 BC Easter Seals Camps- Squamish, BC Established a quality, educational based LIT program incorporating camp activities such as climbing, trust activities, leadership activities, program development and implementation, behaviour support and counselling skill development etc. Ran a seven day canoe trip on the north end of Vancouver Island, focused on leadership training through the act of completing a challenging trip. Coordinated the LIT leader training, in order to ensure that the LIT leader is familiar with all aspects of their role. Provided direct leadership, instruction and feedback to LIT participants, including a reference letter for each LIT at the end of the program Leader in Training Counsellor Summer 2010 Easter Seals Camp- Squamish, BC As a counsellor in this program, I worked closely with the LIT Coordinator to run leadership training activities for young leaders. In particular, I was a part of the Challenger LIT program. This program focused on responsibility, awareness of leadership potential, consideration of what is leadership, and how leadership can play a part in one's own life. Activities were based on teamwork, trust, group dynamics, communication, cooperation and many other skills. These programs were introduced while at the camp and also on a multi-night paddling and camping trip. Camp Counsellor Summer 2009 Easter Seals Camp- Shawnigan Lake, BC As a counsellor, our primary responsibilities were caring for the campers. Each counsellor is placed in a buddy group with one other counsellor and six campers. During this time, we adapt programs to the needs of the campers. This included; providing for the emotional and physical well-being of the campers, lending a hand to a homesick camper or helping out with personal care and ensuring a fun and safe experience for all campers.
