I am a mother of two boys with autism. I treat each child with respect and dignity. I completely understand and appreciate the stresses that come with the responsibility of parenting a child. I also believe that you deserve to have higher expectations and have those expectations met. I love all people, and find I relate well to others. I am outgoing, compassionate, nurturing, creative, and honest. I have a strong belief in accountability, inclusiveness, and creating pathways to allow each individual I serve to be able to experience their lives with great quality. I have experience with Dementia, Palliative Care, Autism all over the spectrum non-verbal and verbal, cerebral Palsy, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Hydrocephalus, Epilepsy and other seizure disorders, Downs Syndrome, Global Developmental Delay, Speech delay, working with the Deaf, and many types of aggressive behaviours both verbal and physical. In addition, I speak American Sign and am currently advancing that skill at the Deaf access centre in Barrie. I am also experienced in other alternative communication methods including Picture Exchange Communication Systems, Visual Scripts/Schedules, hand over hand communication, and am fluent in English. I navigate computer systems well and acquire new skills with ease. I have current CPR-C and EFA, have years of training and re-training in Safe Management and CPI and many other qualifications which can be seen on my resume below. I have experience with Point-Click-Care systems. I have run a total communication home daycare program for 2 years for typical and special needs children.
