MAY 2018: LOOKING FOR children TO CARE FOR / or share situation. I am looking to share my ECE, storytelling and yoga skills with like-minded families. I'm in the Dufferin Grove area, and have a childrens yoga studio / playspace / practical farming plot for spring/summer outdoor education. I have vast international skills in meditation, yoga and horticulture training and have honed my skills to children accordingly. I teach a high quality yoga program which includes literature & social-emotional play (puppets, feltboard storytelling) physical education (yoga, park play), life skills (garden, cooking, community social skills) all in the structure and constant repetition of a daily environment they thrive in. Daily song-circles, and 'time-in' space for self-reflection when overwhelmed - creating an emotional vocabulary. *I do not believe in punishment for toddler's emotions. Time, role-modeling, and understanding of the difficulty in managing one's energy can go a long way to supporting and developing a habit of self-regulation. (Which is my ultimate goal for all.) My rate below is for two families. (Negotiable based on whether you need pickup/dropoff, etc) I am highly experienced ECE and gifted in infant/toddler/preschool care/development, engaging them in imagination play that has a 'life story', having also taught mindfulness for multiple years (conscious parenting skills) My previous work as a story editor, documentary researcher, and print journalism fact-checker and proofreader informs all of my early childhood literacy and critical skills work. My Practical skills: Childcare professional ECE - Reggio Emilia / Montessori play-based self-directed education. Yoga teacher - science of social emotional, body awareness, neurobiology Horticulture farming and nutrition (sensory garden design, green and whole foods), Storyteller/writer for children, print media background. As a meditator, and nature-lover, I see the difference teaching yoga skills to toddlers makes in social-emotional health; it helps engage them in lifestyle practices that foster healthy body awareness, and clear communication skills. All of this though, only works because I am passionate about helping kids thrive, and find their authentic voice, and I know how to engage with children of all ages to make them feel heard and valued. Non-judgmental self-awareness. Being inside isn't my thing, and luckily, children tend to agree. I have multiple professional parents in Toronto who can attest to my skills with their children. I value their privacy, so I don't post their contact information publicly, but, of course, will share privately. Police check, drivers abstract, infant CPR, first aid training, skilled swimmer, and adore all animals. My spells of volunteering have included teaching and engaging in communities in Mexico, (2015/6/7), Costa Rica, (2013/14), and a meditation community in Australia (2017) as well as working on a Mexican (Oaxaca) farm cultivating vanilla flowers, cacao, pineapples, mangoes, tamarind, bananas, coconuts. I look forward to hearing from you, Kath
