Family in Toronto, Ontario

Hi! Thank you for checking out our job posting. We've written a detailed description to ensure that candidates are qualified, and to make the hiring process easy. Who We Are Peter is a lawyer and entrepreneur. Danielle is an interior designer. We have two great kids ages 4 and 6. We live in the Yonge and Summerhill area. We are a hard-working family that is trying to create an environment in which we all reach our potential as individuals and together. We work to teach and reinforce gratitude, self-love, and a growth mindset in our children. Our purpose in hiring a part-time household manager is so that our family can spend its non-work hours (which are less than we would like) together without having to focus on the day-to-day details and tasks. We hope and expect that the successful candidate will work with our family for a long time and, therefore, we are NOT interested in candidates that are searching for a short-term (i.e., less than one year) bridge position. Who You Are You are someone who wants to partner with our family to create the right environment and put us in the best position to spend quality time together. You are interested in making a long-term impact and contributing to our family’s personal and professional success. You are interested in impacting our children and helping us raise good people that are curious and confident to chase the limits of their potential. You are comfortable driving our car, you are a good (healthy) cook, you are obsessed with clean and organized spaces, and you enjoy the day-to-day tasks. Experience & required qualities 1. University degree. 2. At least one year experience working with kids (3 to 12 years old) in a teaching environment, e.g., supply teacher, camp counsellor or coaching experience etc. 3. Driver’s license and, at least, five years driving experience. 4. Positive, high-energy, athletic and healthy lifestyle, i.e., we want someone to challenge our kids’ mentally and physically. 5. You love doing crafts and puzzles. 6. Growth mindset advocate. Ideal Non-Essential Qualities 1. Speech-Language Pathology graduate student 2. Education or experience working with children with speech impediments. Hours We are looking for a candidate that is flexible but, generally speaking, we are looking for someone to work on the following days and times. 1. Every Monday and Wednesday night (3 pm to 7:00 pm) 2. The first Friday of every month (5 pm to 10:30 pm). 3. The third Saturday of every month (11 am to 8 pm). Tasks 1. Picking up kids from school on Monday and Wednesday and, possibly, taking them to after-school classes 2. Packing kids healthy lunches, food preparation for family dinner, and cooking 5-10 basic healthy meals a week (with kids’ contributing to the meals and preparation). 3. Grocery Shopping (on occasion – pick-up small items) 4. House cleaning and organization including laundry, supplies, light administrative duties (e.g., ordering things on internet, mail, and running small errands) Great communication and details matter to us, so we will work with the successful candidate to develop checklists and good communication tools and practices. This way, all expectations are clear, and we can work together seamlessly and happily. Next Steps If think you are a great fit, please send an email to ...@....ca with your cover letter, resume, and answers to the following questions. Please respond via email with answers to the following questions: 1. What is your favourite movie? Why? Who is your favourite character in that movie? Why? 2. What are three reasons that make you believe that WE would be really happy hiring YOU? Please do not repeat anything listed in your cover letter or resume. 3. What two qualities do you value most in your best friends or teammates? Why? 4. If you stumbled across a genie in a bottle on a beach walk, what would be your three wishes? 5. What do you do on the other days of the week (other jobs? school?) We hope to find and hire the successful candidate as soon as possible so, if our family and the description feel like a great fit, please apply right away! Thank you, Peter & Danielle --- PS - Please type the phrase “Peter loves donuts, but they are making him fat” in the subject line so that we know that you've read this post in its entirety and to show that details matter to you too. Thank you!
