Nanny Job in Calgary, Alberta

The successful applicant will provide care for two children on an ongoing basis during the week and occasionally on weekends. The applicant would care for the well-being and physical and social development of the children in the children’s private home but the applicant should be able to provide care in her own private house in case of emergency. The oldest child has a medical condition therefore emergency visits to the hospital at late hours may be required therefore the applicant should reside within a close distance of the children residence. The applicant should also assist parents with household duties. Home child care providers perform all the following duties: • Supervise and care for children in employer's or own residence • Bathe, dress and feed infants and children • Change diapers for infants • Plan, prepare and serve healthy meals for children • Perform housekeeping duties such as dishes, laundry and cleaning floors • Oversee children's activities, such as meals and rest periods • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home • Instruct children in personal hygiene • Tend to the emotional well-being of children and support their social development • Discipline children following the principles of positive discipline • Have a genuine love for working with children • Must be very patient with children and be willing to talk a lot particularly with older child. • Must take children outside everyday for outdoor time (unless extreme weather) • No television, tablet or cell phone use for or around children • Provide age-appropriate educational training through organized activities such as games, crafts, reading and outings • Participate in music and dancing with the children. Knowledge of a musical instrument that could be shared with the children would be great. • Take children to and from appointments • May be required to keep records of daily activities and health information regarding each child. Language of work: • English • Applicants who also speak Persian/Farsi would be preferred because the children are bilingual. Skills requirements: • Completion of secondary school is required • Child care or household management experience is required • Demonstrated ability to perform work is required. • First aid certification and CPR would be an asset
