Nanny in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Hi there! I am a 4th year Biology student, yoga enthusiast, and nature lover. I have years of experience caring for children from newborn to 5 years of age. I would love to meet you to talk about your part-time or casual childcare needs! :) I am the oldest of three sisters, my youngest sister being born when I was 13. During the birth, my mother suffered from a traumatic brain injury. As the oldest sister, I stepped in a helped my family alot with the care of my youngest sister, and developed a special skill of caring for newborns. I also have a very large extended family (my father has 10 brothers and sisters!) so growing up I always cared for and guided my younger cousins, ranging in ages from newborn to 5 years of age. During high school, I volunteered in a youth read-a-long program, where I was paired with a 5 year old child and met with her twice a week to develop her literary skills. I also volunteered with an in-school breakfast program for at-risk youth while I was in my final year of high school. Currently, I am a part-time nanny, caring for two siblings, a girl (5) and boy (8), and occasionally up to 4 children at a time, during play-dates. My employers do not currently require as much help as they have in the past, and so I am searching for another part-time position. My duties with my current employer include: overseeing and caring for children, lending a hand with homework, reading to children, preparing healthy meals, carrying out light housekeeping and cleaning, disciplining children in accordance to methods requested by parents, and putting children to bed.
