Hi there!

Nanny in Nanaimo

Hi there! My name is Juliette Eilers and I am a recent graduate of Cochrane High School located in Cochrane, Alberta. I am moving to Nanaimo, British Columbia to pursue my Bachelor of Interior Design at Vancouver Island University. I have always had a passion for working with children, which first bloomed with the birth of my younger sister. From then on out my parents couldn't get me to take my hands off of "Baby Natee" (My interpretation of baby natalie as a toddler :p). I have worked with several children's agencies as a volunteer, providing childcare as well as entertainment. My past two summers have been spent as a camp counsellor in Sylvan Lake. After attending the camp for 12 years myself, the next step to keep coming to camp was to become a counsellor myself! Although sometimes straining and tiring, through the tears and the headaches, all it takes is a few words from one child standing in the field to remind me why it is I do what I do. If I can make a difference in a child's life, no matter how insignificant it my seem, than it's all worth while. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my introduction! Have a wonderful day. - I am a part time camp counsellor at Camp Kasota West in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. I have dealt with children coming from all different walks of life and have handled many different and unique situations. On a normal week I will have 8 girls under my care in one of our cabins. They range based on the week they attend; sometimes they will be 6-8, sometimes they will be 9-11, and older girls aged 12-16. I am responsible for them from 8 am (the wake up bell) till midnight which is my curfew, and then I sleep in the cabin with them incase they need me during the night. - As a camp counsellor I am something of a jack of all trades! I plan and coordinate activities for kids during the day, and sometimes I am a shoulder to cry on when one of my little ones is homesick and can't sleep at 3:30 in the morning. As a counsellor I am always going, going, and going. There is never a dull moment at summer camp! Having to improvise is a skill I have learned to polish! Wether we are rained out, no one is listening or they are simply uninterested, a list of mental back pocket games is always there when I need it! - Specific physical duties include ensuring my girls are eating at all three meals a day and staying hydrated by going for water breaks every hour. - Emotional duties include always being prepared for the sharing of personal details of a camper in the event that a child felt comfortable enough to share something with me, and being able to give advice in tough situations. - I have been babysitting since I was 12 years old, and growing up with two younger siblings has taught me how to deal with young children. I have experience in changing diapers, preparing nutritious and delicious meals at mealtime, entertaining and having fun with kids. - For several months I was a princess performer at young girls birthday parties. I provided magical and unforgettable experiences for not only party guests, but parents and onlookers as well.
