Hi there! My name is Mireille (pronounced Mee-ray) and I\'m looking to gain more experience working with children and their families in a fun and safe environment. I am very passionate about giving back to the community. At this stage in my life, I believe being a part of your community and helping it grow is essential to creating a fun and safe environment for children and youth. Every summer I volunteer with the Salvation Army in Vancouver to lend a hand to the homeless and low income families in need. Our team prepares and serves breakfast three times a week, builds care packages full of everyday essentials such as, hygiene products, canned goods, loaves of bread and other snacks, and school supplies for kids, as well as organize toys for families who need support during the Christmas season. I\'ve babysat my cousin Stella many times over the past year; she is five years old. Anytime we\'re together it\'s always a boat load of fun! We love to play outside, at the park with my dog, go to the movies, play dress up, play with bubbles in the bath, prepare and share healthy snacks together, and many more fun activities! If we ever disagree on something I immediately talk it over with her and try to understand her point of view while trying to make her understand my own. I\'d also like to add that I thoroughly enjoy cleaning and organizing spaces. Some other of my hobbies include; Sustainable farming -I\'ve volunteered at the UBC Farm many times and am working towards an internship with Sole Food Farms, a sustainable Urban Farm with locations throughout the Vancouver area. Music- I\'ve been singing professionally classical music for over 6 years. In my last year of high school I participated in a Music Production college course. Throughout the year, I learned about the technical and digital world of producing music. We produce our own album for the year end concert. I\'ve also volunteered my time as a Music technician at an all ages venue on Commercial drive. The French language- I\'ve been in French immersion from kindergarten to my first year at the University of Ottawa. I can speak and write in French fluently. I\'ve lived in Burnaby my whole life. I have extensive knowledge of the social network of both the city of Burnaby, as well as the city of Vancouver. I lived in Ottawa to study at University for a year, but I came back to live in Burnaby because I loved and missed Vancouver so much! Thank you for your consideration, and I\'m very excited to meet some of you in the upcoming year! Mireille During my last year in high school, a group of girls from my Child Development class would donate our time playing, reading and participating in other school activities with children in kindergarten to grade 3. It was a lot of fun! The kids were very cute. I\\\'ve had experience working for the Salvation Army in Vancouver for their Breakfast program for 3 summers in a row, starting in 2011. As a volunteer my duties included: Preparing and serving breakfast to the homeless and low income families, cleaning and maintaining a safe work environment and community space, making everyone feel welcome and included. I have also participated in their Christmas Toy Drive. Our team organized and packaged toys for low income families, taking into consideration the age of the children and number of children in the family. I\\\'ve been fortunate to have the chance of babysitting my adorable cousin Stella a few times over the past year. She is five years old. We played dress up, board games, barbies, imaginary games, watched child friendly tv shows and movies, went for walks outside to the park with my dog, prepared and ate healthy snacks, sang songs together and many other fun activities!
