Nanny in Grimsby
Hi! I just want to start of by saying thank you so much for viewing my profile! I just finished my undergrad in Honours Sociology and History this past May. During my time at Bishop\'s University I was a member of the Big Buddies club wherein we were paired with an elementary school student and got together every other weekend for various activities. This was a way for me to keep working with children while at school. The most meaningful and rewarding jobs that I\'ve held are ones where I am working directly with children. Throughout High School I was a volunteer tutor with Big Brothers, Big Sisters once a week. I also volunteered a month of my summer at Camp Huronda in order to work one-on-one with a camper who had cerebral palsy. I assisted her in daily camp activities but also everyday activities, such as eating or getting dressed. I loved every minute of it. For the next three consecutive summers I worked at this camp as a counselor and then head of pottery. I gained great experience in childcare throughout my four summers. I would be a great fit for your family because I am the perfect balance between fun and responsible! Camp Huronda is a special camp because it is a camp for juvenile diabetics. While working here I had to ensure kids were having a great time but also keep track of sugar levels and notice if anything seemed off with the campers. I was responsible for recording sugar levels, choosing meal portions with my cabin (around 8 kids) and then reporting to the doctors on staff before every meal and bedtime. I have no hesitations about working with children that have special needs as I\'m willing to 100% put in the extra work. I\'m also a lot of fun! As a pottery instructor I was responsible for creating endearing lesson plans specially formulated for age groups and gender and also coming up with activities for children who finished their projects earlier than others. The worst thing you can do is create a lesson plan that a child isn\'t going to enjoy. While I was a counselor I had to sign up for a certain number of camp wide evening programs to plan and act out. In these activities we were always acting out different characters whether it be Darla from Finding Nemo (who I think I did quite well) or a pokemon. I have years of experience with children as well as many years experience working so you can have no doubt that I am a hard worker. I would make a great addition as your nanny! Thank you, Allyson I have worked with children since I was 16 years old. At 16 I volunteered full time for a month as a one-on-one assistant to a girl with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. I volunteered in a camp environment. The following year, I was a counselor at Camp Huronda which is a camp specially for children with juvenile diabetes. From 17-18 I worked as a counselor which meant I was in charge of around 8 children from ages 8-15 all with diabetes. As a counselor I'm required to ensure safety, facilitate routine and engage activities but overall have fun! When I was 19 I worked at the same camp as the head of Pottery. As the pottery instructor I was required to run 3, 1 and 1/2 hour pottery sessions daily as well as supervise free time sessions. Besides running the pottery station, and minding the pottery kilns, I was also responsible for planning and taking part in camp wide evening activities.
