Nanny in Victoria

Hello there! I am a second year nursing student in the Camosun/UVic Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN) program. I recently finished a clinical practice rotation on a pediatric unit, where I worked with children aged 0-17. I have required qualifications for CPR, first aid, food safe, and criminal record check and am available to work live-in or live-out in Victoria, BC or to work live-in anywhere on Vancouver Island. I have been employed by many different families as a babysitter and have several years of volunteer experience in kids\' summer camps, including working with children with disabilities. I also have cooking and cleaning experience from both volunteer and employment opportunities. I am fun and caring, but also very considerate and respectful. I have a positive, enthusiastic attitude and am able to create a fun, but safe and nurturing environment for your child. I look forward to meeting you and your family! My most current experience with children is in my pediatric nursing placement in the hospital setting, where I have cared for children aged 0 (including premature infants) - 16 yrs. I have also been involved in babysitting, summer camps, and other other programs. When babysitting, I generally help with light housekeeping, including sweeping and washing/putting away dishes, as well as planning activities (drawing and coloring, playing with toys, reading, dress-up, building blocks, "nature walks", and going to the park). When babysitting, I do try to avoid television and computer, and rather promote going outside or doing creative, learning, or imaginative activities instead. I have also worked with school aged children as a camp leader. My duties were to care for and maintain the safety of 10 girls aged 12-13 and to plan activities and provide support and leadership to the girls. I further have experience working with children with disabilities through the Victoria Therapeutic Riding Association. The program is based on the concept of the therapeutic effects of riding and being around gentle and patient horses and is centered on enriching these children's lives by giving them the chance to learn and grow in a nurturing environment. My duties included walking with the child and horse to ensure safety and security throughout the riding experience, and to help the child with various activities that required varying degrees of coordination, physical therapy, and cognitive therapy. The role required that I be patient, physically and mentally prepared, and enthusiastic to continuously teach and learn.
