Hello, Sir and Madame. I am Aaron Adrianne Ramos Antonio, 19 years old, a fresh graduate from the Philippines. I studied and finished Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Saint Louis University. Saint Louis University is one of the top performing schools in the country, ranked 3 in the entire Philippines and ranked 1 outside Metro Manila according to Professional Regulatory Commission. It is regarded by the Commission of Higher Education with Autonomous Status. Our College of Nursing is regarded too as the Center of Nursing Development and before was regarded as Center for Excellence in Nursing Education. They produced several topnotchers and produced thousands of registered Nurses. We have a passing rate of 95-100%. As of the moment, I am currently waiting for the result of the board exam I have taken from the Philippines on June 2 and 3. Results will be probably released this 1st week of July. I graduated Cum Laude, with a General Weighted Mean of 88.90. At my college years, I joined several quiz bee and participated in many activities at school. I am very well-rounded and sociable person who is able to easily adapt to changes of time. Being here at Canada as an immigrant or a permanent resident is a already a big opportunity. I came from an average family in the Philippines and I really want to work here in Canada because of opportunities. I have a passion in taking good care of many people. I love the seniors and the elderly. My elective is Gerontological Nursing which I have taken in my 4th year in Nursing Program. I am so passionate too in taking good care of kids too. I am very trustworthy person. I believe that I have developed not only knowledge and skill, but most importantly attitude and passion. Above all, I love to be doing this kind of job because I believe this is my calling and being with people makes me better love my purpose in life. Being a fresh graduate from a School of Nursing in the Philippines, I have been exposed to many medical conditions wherein my knowledge, skills and attitudes were enhanced further. Since I was in the 2nd year of our Nursing Program, we already started to have clinical duties at the different hospitals located in our place, namely Sacred Heart Hospital(a tertiary hospital), and also we had community immersion or duties. I was exposed to several wards such as Medical Ward, Surgical Ward, Operating Room, Pediatric Ward, OB-Gyne Ward, Psychotherapy for Children, Rehab Centers, Burn Units, etc. In our community duties, we immersed ourselves to the community folks who are located in the far-flung areas who are most of them are financially incapable and who are utmost, are depressed, opressed and poor. The community that we went through are those who are not completely reached by the Rural Health officers and medical team. In there, we were able to do Home Visit and took good care of the people inside the house. Most of the people left inside the home are elderly. What we did to them are assist them in doing self-care activities such as brushing their teeth, bathing, changing of clothes etc. Most of them have difficulty in executing functional activities such as walking hence we assist them in doing so. Some have crutches and other walking devices and we assist them in doing so. The most important thing I have learned being with the community is the fact that you are there with them. Being there, I was able to experience the kind of life that they have. Empowering and reinforcing their strengths is the best thing I have done. Health teachings were also provided since I believe that knowledge that you imparted to them will never be lost. Knowledge is power! Being inside the hospital is actually a fulfilling job. We all know for a fact that inside the hospital is a stressful job, but, if you put your heart and soul with what you do, everything will be fine and fulfilling. At the hospital for many years, I have taken good care of different people, with various medical conditions and have catered to their needs with the best of my ability. What we usually do at the hospital is to do independent nursing functions such as doing health teaching, assisting them in their functional activities such as walking, standing, positional changes, etc. We also assist them in doing self-care activities such as bed bath, bathing, brushing, shampooing, nail care, etc. We also administer medications orally, intramuscularly, and even IV administration as supervised by our Clinical Instructor as well as Registered Nurses. We also collaborate with the medical doctors.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
