My name is Laura, I’m a 26-year-old student and I have 8 years of experience working with children. I’ve worked as a part-time babysitter since 2012, and I’ve spent around 5 years working in a daycare. I can handle toddlers and preschoolers really well (my activities go anywhere from arts and crafts to puppet shows etc). I did not go to school for Early Childhood Education, although I have gone through three post-secondary programs and I’m a two-time award-winning masters candidate at Ryerson University. My life-long dream is to create funny creative content for children and I'm in the process of writing a book for school-aged children. A little bit about me: - I have previously graduated from two programs (visual arts at Sheridan College and Comedy Writing and Performance at Humber College). I’m currently majoring in Media Production at Ryerson University, with a minor in Digital Art Production. - I am a Masters's candidate for Scriptwriting and Story Design at Ryerson. - At Sheridan College, I was voted Class Rep. At Humber College, I won the David Goodman Comedy Scholarship. At Ryerson University, I won the Lori Beckstead Award for Community Development - I’d like to publish my own book and produce my own cartoon show for kids, and I believe that being in touch with children is the way to be in touch with my content and to know what works and what does not work with kids. - I am organized, good at multi-tasking (housekeeping whilst watching the kids), always up-to-date on the best practices when handling children. - I can keep a child’s attention for hours, and I can handle a tantrum calmly like a pro. - I can also provide references, resume, cover letter and proof of vaccination Looking forward to working with your angel(s) :)))
