Nanny in Toronto, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
Hello! My name is Erica Davison. I am a third year Psychology and English student studying at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. I am a very responsible, caring, and outgoing individual who has a love for life! I absolutely love children, and would love the opportunity to take care of children as a summer break from my academic studies. I have an extensive amount of experience working with children, and think that I would be very well suited for this job. I can guarantee to provide a safe, loving, and happy environment for your children this summer by implicating the experience I have gained from previous positions in childcare. My experience with children of all ages, in all different environments (camp, swimming instructor, academic tutoring) has helped me understand children inside and out, and I believe that my experience has given me the tools that I need to succeed in this position. I would plan daily excursions and activities for the children (e.g. to the ROM, the Zoo, the park etc.) in order to keep the summer interesting and stimulating! I am very good with following instructions from the parents, but also ensuring that the children have everything that they need to be happy. I understand this is a very intimate job that requires a lot of trust between the family and nanny. I can promise you that I will give your children everything that they need to have a happy, and safe summer. Please contact me, and we can set up a meeting to see if we are suited for one another. Looking forward to hearing from you! ☺ 1. Camp Counselor, Sparrow Lake Camp I was a Camp Counselor at Sparrow Lake Camp for one summer. Sparrow Lake is an overnight camp that promotes Christian values to both its campers and its staff. It is considered an ‘outdoor’ camp that hosts a variety of different activities such as swimming, sailing, kayaking, arts and crafts, sports and games, etc. As well as being a Counselor, I was also the Kayaking director, and was in charge of all activities that took place at the waterfront area. I was a camp counselor to children of all ages, and had a very close relationship with all my campers. I was frequently requested by campers for following sessions, and was considered a camper ‘favourite’. I received an excellent employee evaluation from my superiors, and was offered my job back the following summer. 2. Camp Counselor, City of Toronto. Despite being offered my job back at Sparrow Lake Camp, I took advantage of an opportunity that was offered to me from the City of Toronto. I was offered a position as a Camp Counselor for the city, and worked primarily with children between 6-8 years old. It was a day camp that included swimming, arts and crafts, daily excursions, and many more things. Many of my campers returned for several sessions that summer, and requested myself as their counselor. I was in charge of about 20 campers every day, and developed strong skills that allowed me to ensure that each and every camper was safe, happy, and more importantly, having fun. I once again received an excellent evaluation from my employer, and was offered a promising future (as a director) with the City of Toronto if I chose to stay with them the following summer. 3. Math and Reading Tutor, Kumon Learning Centre I worked at Kumon Learning Centre, and tutored children of all ages in Math and Reading. I helped children with their academic struggles, and helped them develop confidence and determination in their work. It was a very rewarding experience, and I enjoyed watching my children improve and gain self-assurance in their academic abilities. 4. Swimming Instructor and Lifeguard, Mayfair Tennis & Racquet Club I worked at Mayfair Tennis & Racquet Club for a year as a swimming instructor and lifeguard. I taught children of all ages how to swim. I developed a very strong bond with all of my children, as I helped them to overcome a variety of different fears surrounding the pool. I absolutely loved all of my children, and saying goodbye to the children at the end of the session often resulted in tears (from both myself, and the children). The lessons were private, and semi-private, which allowed me to become very close to all of the children. My children often requested me the following summer, which allowed me to work with them for a long time, therefore developing a close and strong emotional bond.
