Hello, I am a student from Trent University who is looking to obtain summer employment as a nanny. Overall, I am an honest and hardworking individual who will strive to meet the standards you have set when it comes to caring for your children. I understand over the summer time the children will not be in school and I look at this period as a unique opportunity to engage in daily activities with them, get outdoors, and even plan day trips in and around the area you are from. My priorities would be to develop a positive relationship with each child and to make sure that we are doing things that are tailored to their hobbies and interests. Also, I believe it would be important to continue to read and educate them through the summer and I could do this through short tutoring lessons in subjects they are struggling with or trips to a local library or science center. The first was a paid position as a babysitter for a new born and a toddler. This position usually consisted of me being responsible for the children over the weekends as their parents were away. My duties included feeding, bathing, entertaining, and going through nightly routines with each child. I felt comfortable in dealing with two children at different levels of development at the same time and I learned how to balance out my duties between them accordingly. My most recent experience in dealing with young children was last summer as I was a volunteer teacher overseas for a grade two class. This position required me to learn how to deal with different behaviors and learning disabilities. I also was responsible for a larger body of children, their well-being in school, and their educational needs.
