Tired of working with overbearing families with tons of strict rules and requirements? Want a super welcoming part-time placement with a couple of imaginative, sassy, silly kids, and a super casual and chill couple? Our expectations include: - Keeping our kids alive, sort of clean, and mostly safe. - We expect you'll prepare and offer them food from our kitchen, but not worry too much about how much of it they eat. - We hope you'll play with them when they ask, and let them play on their own when they want to. - We'd love it if you could take them outside to play and explore but can also figure out how to work our TV when they want down time. - Must be able to remember which Pokemon the 5-year-old is pretending to be on any given day, and call her by the right name at least 60% of the time. - Must be at least passable at translating toddler-speak so the 2-year-old can communicate with you. - We practice gentle, non-punitive/non-rewards-based parenting methods. Basically all that means to us is that you talk to the kids like humans and have realistic behaviour expectations! 5 hours at a time, 3-4 days a week (around 20hrs max, negotiable depending on salary expectations and availability). Mom works from home and/or out at a coworking space, so will sometimes be home when you're there. Dad works out of the home. We would LOVE someone who will take on light housekeeping tasks like laundry, dishes, sweeping floors and tidying toys, but this isn't a dealbreaker. At the very least we'd just like you to clean up messes you and the kids make while you're here. We are near skytrain, park, and forested trails. The kids love adventures, and we'd happily pay admission for Science World or the Aquarium so you can take them out and about. We would love to discuss the possibility of driving the 5 year old to and from her activities a couple days a week if you have a vehicle, but this isn't a requirement.
