Nanny in Calgary, Alberta

Hi there! My name is Brielle and I am a mom of an active and sweet 6 year old boy. We are a very busy, outdoorsy duo who love being around and learning from other children. I am out with my son daily for walks and bike rides by the river path and parks here in Calgary, and we are regulars at the Calgary Zoo and Science Center and the many fun recreational activities available in the area. I am looking for a position that allows me to bring my son with me to work and allows him and the other children in my care ample social time, silliness and fresh air. It is my heartfelt belief that children who are allowed to play outdoors and interact with the natural world form lifelong, meaningful experiences that develop their minds and personalities into caring, responsible and trusting adults. Forming close, family-type bonds with the children in my care and serving them as a trustworthy and reliable role model is of great importance to me. I hope to inspire compassion, creativity, resourcefulness, trust and excellent problem solving skills in our future citizens of the world. Working with a family with similar values and interests as my own would be ideal for me. I have over 10 years of babysitting experience with 2 or more children at once (of varying ages) and have been a nanny for 3 years (with my son) since completing my maternity leave. Most recently I have been a Waldorf Inspired Dayhome operator and am now looking to transition back to Nannying as my living situation has changed. I believe that being a parent is by far the best, most realistic experience when it comes to childcare and my previous families have appreciated the natural and competent caregiving that comes with being a mother myself. I also have a valid drivers licence and reliable SUV for toting the kids around. I have my infant and child CPR (2017) certification as well as my Level 1 Early Learning Child Care Certificate from Bow Valley College (2016). I am happy to prepare delicious, nutrition focused, real food for the children in my care as well as clean up after them. Some light housework may be considered depending on the specific position and age of the children, however my priority will always on keeping the children happy and busy! I am a homemaker myself with a passion for 'real food from scratch" whenever possible (within reason of course). I have studied holistic nutrition and teach workshops around Calgary on Fermentation and Traditional cuisine and take great pride in my sons vast and inclusive taste buds. I would be thrilled to include your children in my routine and even involve them in the process if they are interested. I try to limit the amount of screen time the kids are exposed to throughout the day and try to set a good example for them (including my own smartphone usage) - though a little TV time at the end of the day is what my own son is used to (mostly for my own sanity :) That being said, focus will always be on age-appropriate activities including but not limited to: bike rides, swimming, outdoor parks and water parks, nature walks and any sports/extracurricular activities your kids might be involved in. On rainy or snowy days we can spend more time inside playing games together, making food fun, crafts and reflective exercises to solidify our outdoor learning, and of course lots of reading! I am also happy to accommodate any activities or special requests not mentioned above.
