Nanny Job in Victoria, British Columbia

I'm an
Individual
Looking for a caring and affectionate individual to care for two one-year old girls full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. We are two families living in Esquimalt (Gorge/VicWest neighborhood) hoping to enter into a nanny-share situation. We are looking for a nanny that shares similar child-rearing values as us, including: • focus on the children; • provide a safe, positive and loving environment; • exhibit respect and kindness; • praise effort; • encourage creativity; • set clear expectations; • provide a combination of play and learning; • demonstrate good manners and grammar; and, • make healthy choices. Our ideal nanny is nurturing, attentive, fun and energetic. S/he would have a sense of humour, give lots of love and affection to the children, enjoy the outdoors, foster respect for nature and the environment and be interested in preparing healthy food. Activities with the children would include: walks to the park, playing outdoors, creative time (perhaps music, dance, crafts, building forts…), reading and stories, social outings to interact with other children (e.g. library baby-time, Kindergym, etc), swimming, and no TV/screens. Requirements: • mature and dependable; • experience with infants, including references; • CPR and first aid up-to-date, or willing to recertify before the start date; • willing to do nanny-share; • non-smoker; • able to prepare healthy meals and snacks for the children; • able to take children outside every day except in extreme weather; • able to take babies to groups and/or lessons (in most situations, these outings will be within walking distance or on major transit routes); • children\'s baths and dressing; • good communicator; and • legally entitled to work in Canada. Preferences: • some childhood education; • a commitment of 12 months; • ability to transport children on fieldtrips (flexible on mode – e.g. bicycle carrier, walking, public transit or driving); • limited light housekeeping related to childcare; and, • FOODSAFE certification is an asset. Start date is January 2015, with optional part-time work in December. Salary is negotiable based upon experience. We will provide paid vacation for two weeks a year, as agreed to with advance notice, plus statutory holidays. Live-out arrangement. Hiring may be contingent on a criminal record check. Please contact Maria with a resume by Friday, November 7, 2014 if you are interested. Only applicants who meet the qualifications will be contacted.
