Family in Toronto, Ontario

Summary: - Looking for live-out nanny for 7 month old and 4 year old children (4 year old in kindergarten) - Start date - part-time October 2018 (two days per week), moving to full-time January 2019 (hours TBD) - To include meal prep and children's laundry - Home a 3 minute walk from local transit (metropass can be included) Hello from the Spafford family (Adrienne, Kevin, Lauren and Sam)! We have a great opportunity for a nanny starting part-time in October 2018 and moving to full-time in January 2019. We looking for full time care for our delightful six month old Sam (b. Feb 2018) and before and after school care for our energetic four year old Lauren (b. Sept 2014). We live at Pape and O'Connor and Lauren's school is a seven minute walk from our home. Our home is a two minute walk from public transit. We are a warm, friendly, respectful and busy family and are looking for someone who will provide a safe, loving and secure environment for our kids. We look at childcare as a partnership with a prospective nanny - we value teamwork, open communication and ongoing collaboration. We have had previous success employing a nanny as part of a nanny share arrangement, but this time we are looking for a nanny for our family alone. We are looking for someone whose primary job will be to look after our six month old son, Sam. Sam is a very happy baby who currently naps in his crib three times per day on a fairly regular schedule and is already eating purees. He is on the sleep, eat, play, rest routine and sleeps from 7-6:30 nightly. It's likely by the time the nanny starts he will be down to two longer naps per day. He is currently not taking the bottle but we continue to work on that. In addition, he seems happy to eat purees mixed with formula or expressed breastmilk when mixed with pureed food as an alternative to a bottle at wake up. He is quite content to spend time on his tummy or bouncer and gives lots of smiles and giggles. Mom (Adrienne) is going back to work earlier than originally planned and hopes to continue to breastfeed morning and nighttime, and Dad (Kevin) will be Sam's primary caregiver during the day after Adrienne's return to work. The role also involves drop off and pick up of four year old Lauren who starts full day kindergarten in September. Lauren is playful, kind and responds well to direction. She is a favourite among teachers at daycare and really loves the people who look after her. She also LOVES her baby brother and likes to be his second "Mom". She is also excited about getting a new nanny as she had such a wonderful experience with our first nanny and still maintains a relationship with her. The role would include full time care for Lauren during school holidays as well. The hours we are looking for are generally 7:45 or 8 until 6pm, Monday to Friday. Childcare is definitely the focus of the role over any additional duties, however we strongly prefer if the candidate would be able to at least begin dinner time most of the evenings and would be comfortable getting Lauren dressed and fed in the morning before drop off if necessary. Laundry, if possible would be an asset. Maintaining tidiness to a reasonable extent is important, but no housework is expected (we have our home cleaned professionally every two weeks). It is our strong preference that the nanny enjoy being outdoors weather permitting for walks with Sam and playground with Lauren after school. Adrienne and Kevin both work in busy managerial roles outside the home, and so we are really looking for someone who is going to connect with our family, love our children and support our ability to raise happy, safe, and kind children. We are looking to make a connection with someone for several years until both kids are in school. We believe in very open communication and would want to know what a nanny needed from us in order to be successful, around or outside the home, and also in terms of support from us. We are open minded about mistakes or accidents happening and prefer to know and talk about it openly and figure out a plan for improvement, if needed, rather than a nanny being scared to talk about it. We will respect the expertise and energy you bring to the role and treat you like a member of the family. If that's the type of relationship you're looking for, then we are it! We have a comfortable home including a nice backyard that the kids (and adults) enjoy, a fully finished basement, one and a half bathrooms, a dishwasher, lots of toys/activities for the kids and each of the kids have their own bedroom. The start date for this position is part-time in October 2018 (about two days per week) switching to full-time (Monday-Friday, hours TBD) in January 2019. If you would like to apply for the position, please send in a resume to ...@....ca. We would like to hear from you about why you like being a nanny, what interested you about this position, and what factors make you the most successful in your job. We will likely conduct a first round of interviews with Kevin, Adrienne and Sam, and then a second round including Lauren. Only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted. Thank you in advance for your interest! We will happily address any additional questions about the role or us as a family by email or in person at an interview. Here is a reference from our past nanny: "I am writing in regards to Adrienne and Kevin Spafford. I worked for them as a full-time nanny from September 2015 to August 2016. I have continued to work for them as an occasional babysitter after the end of my one year contract. Kevin and Adrienne are wonderful employers who made every effort to ensure I feel respected, valued, safe and comfortable in my work environment. They viewed me not only as a partner in raising their child but as a source of knowledge with regards to child development. They valued my education and experience and took opportunities to ask for my expertise on their child's growth. They were also very accommodating with any scheduling conflicts that arose. They provided me with feedback which made me feel appreciated as an employee. Kevin and Adrienne quickly became my friends since they are warm, caring and easy to communicate with. I have worked for many families and the Spaffords are a model employer, plus they have adorable children! Anyone would be lucky to have them as an employer."
