Nanny in Calgary, Alberta

I'm an
Individual
Hello, my name is Hannah Nimegeers. I am a recent graduate Bishop Carroll High School in Calgary Alberta. Unlike the traditional high school, I had the opportunity to participate in a work-at-your-pace program. Here, I had the freedom to learn in a manner that best worked for me. I am in my first year at The University of Lethbridge in the Education program where I am working toward a double major English/Education degree. I also intend on graduating with a minor in music education. Over the last five years, I have spent time as a volunteer in grade one, two, and three classes. I enjoy working with students and love feeling rewarded when I am able to help a child achieve their personal goals. As a student with a learning disability, I understand that everyone has his or her own unique talents and challenges. This is important to understand, especially when working with children, as they have not yet developed learning strategies. I have been a certified babysitter for almost six years. In this time, I have had the opportunity to care for children between the ages of one through ten on evenings, weekends, and during the day. I was also previously a student mentor at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. As a member of this organization, I spent one-on-one time each week helping build a child’s confidence and social skills. I found this opportunity very rewarding, as I was able to build a relationship with the child I mentored and see them achieve exciting accomplishments. As a previous member of various music ensembles, including being an alumni of my school’s symphonic band and wind ensemble, I understand the importance of skills such as teamwork, dedication, and creativity. I enjoy cooking with my family, spending time with my pets, and playing a variety of musical instruments including guitar, clarinet, ukulele, and piano. Learning how to play instruments has helped me express myself and build a creative outlet. It is often difficult to play in a group environment such as a band but I have learned that with discipline and teamwork it is possible to successfully achieve greatness in a group environment. I am looking for a live-out position although I am flexible with this. I would like to have a position as a full-time nanny between April and August. Unfortunately, due to the fact that I am a full time student at the University of Lethbridge, I will not be able to work full time after August, I do not have a driver’s license but I am confortable to commute via public transit.
