Hi there, My name is Bri, I am 20 years old and am living in Liscomb, NS. I am currently out of school this year and unemployed. I did however, take Social Services during my first year of college. I am experienced with children and adults who live with both mental and physical disabilities by working at the CACL, The Heatherton Activity Centre, as well as The ROC centre. Throughout high school, I looked after my little sister and two little brothers for four years while my father worked two jobs and stepmom was away at university. I was responsible for bus supervision, after school snacks, homework, playtime/entertainment, suppers, packing lunches, bed preparation, bedtime stories, being “tucked in”, tidying/cleaning as well as some of the farm work. I am very creative, and extremely organized (my friends and family refer to me as a “clean freak”). I love children but should have you know my beliefs. I do not believe in occupying a child with iPads and technology I consider those types of entertainment as rewards for good behaviour. I think technology often disrupts children’s playfulness and creativity. I also believe in confrontation and correction. I believe when bad behaviour occurs it should be talked out calmly and corrected by suggesting positive alternatives they can do the next time they feel angry or discouraged.
