Fitness Can Sometimes Get Boring

May 19, 2009

I spend a lot of time sitting in front of a computer. The older I get, the more this seems to affect my body. As the summer season approaches, I knew I was in need of an exercise/diet routine that would really fit with my lifestyle. Personally, I enjoy working out really hard, but it is the time commitment that I have always struggled with. I have finally come to the realization that I am unable to make the time to go to the gym - I seem to have endless excuses. I used to run, but I have recently become bored of that. As a result, I have a whole new batch of excuses not to run.

So, for the first time in my life, I bought a product from an info commercial… the P90X system. Basically, this product is designed by the guy from Beach Body - Tony Horton, and is a series of DVD workouts that you do at home. What’s different about these videos is that you do a different exercise every day - Day 1: Chest & Back, Day 2: Plyometrics, Day 3: Yoga, etc. Having a different exercise to do everyday, I don’t think I am going to get bored. And it is very, very challenging - the “X” in P90X is supposed to stand for extreme.

The idea behind P90X is that you work a different muscle group each day. The last day is a Stretch. I really have no excuses; this workout is done right in my own home and all I need are weights, a mat, bands and water. Since I started (I’m on day 15), I have been waking up at 5:50 every morning and working out. At day 15, I have been able to maintain this every day - Only 75 days to go… Wish me Luck! If I make it, I will post after photos.
