Nanny in Calgary, Alberta

My name is Kathleen Griffin, and I am 19 years old looking for a full time position as a nanny for the upcoming spring and summer. I recently completed my first semester of university at the University of British Columbia Okanagan in the Faculty of Human Kinetics. Following the first semester, I made the decision to transfer to the Faculty of Management. Growing up in a family with three other siblings and a wonderful black lab, I have learned to thrive in a social environment and look forward to the opportunity to interact with another family and share my experiences. I have a wide range of experience with children; working as a nanny for a family throughout the summer of 2016, as a Camp Counselor for a children's day camp during the summers of 2014 and 2015, and babysitting for all ages from a young age and throughout high school. My past experience as a nanny was working with two children, aged 9 and 11, throughout the summer of 2016. I was responsible for coordinating daily activities, and making sure the children were cared for in a safe and healthy environment. Some of the daily activities included swimming, bowling, trips to the zoo and movie theatre, board games, shopping, and cooking and baking together. As a result, I have been involved in a wide range of activities, which enhance the daily activities of children in a fun and healthy environment. To be successfully chosen among the many applicants for the position as a Camp Counsellor, several requirements had to be met. This included a completion of all ten levels of my Canadian Red Cross Swimming Designation, achieving my First Aid and CPR Training, and a clear criminal record check. More importantly, I was able to instill upon my employer during the interview process that I possessed the leadership skills required for them to entrust me with their camp registrants. Being responsible for the organization of weeklong programs for children aged 3-14 has provided me with the personal satisfaction gained from the experience of enhancing a child's summer experience. Throughout my life, my passion for the art of dance has provided me with the opportunity to compete, teach and practice in an athletic environment. Along with my commitment to dance, I hold a strong passion for other active interests, such as skiing, hiking, running, and have been fortunate enough to travel extensively with my family. Having lived in the city of Calgary for all of my life, I am extremely familiar and comfortable with all of the attractions and facilities within the city, as well its surrounding area. Over the past few years, I have become involved in the subject of health, nutrition, and overall fitness. Familiarizing myself with proper nutritional habits has been personally rewarding and has opened my mind to a number of new meal preparations and healthy eating habits. In my time off from school, work, and other commitments, I have been fortunate to spend time at my family's cabin located on Lake Koocanusa in Montana. As the youngest in my family, my siblings are beginning to embark on their own lives, so my appreciation of our time together is significant. For the upcoming spring and summer, I am available to work full time with children of all ages. I am dedicated to ensuring each day is a positive experience for the children under my supervision, by utilizing my past experience and skills gained from my previous employment.
