Nanny in Vancouver, British Columbia

I'm an
Individual
Days looking to fill: April forth, seventh, 11th (7-11am), 15 (7-11am), 18, May, 10 (7-11am), 30 Within the New Westminster area, please. I have certification as an Early Childhood Education Assistant (2010), and I am graduating with my Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences Degree; eventually to complete my Ph.D. in counselling psychology where I plan to pursue therapeutic work with children and families. Major in psychology (development and social) and minor in education (human development and counselling). I volunteer for a crisis line and mental health hospital. I am currently working on my CV for grad school, which comes first. I do currently nanny full-time for a family in the area and looking to fill some time where they don't need me. I have a clean driver's abstract with a class 5 license (driving experience over 10 years) with a car. And a clean criminal record. CPR/first aid certified. I have provided private in-home childcare to 6 families on a longterm full-time basis and several others as casual special event babysitting. The youngest having been a 7 week-old premature baby, the oldest is a 9-year-old, and all ages in-between. I have also taught in 2 daycares in all age groups, specializing in infant and toddler care. Some special requirements I have experience with are as follows: allergies, medications, epilepsy, diabetes, social development issues, LGBTQ , skin sensitivities, sleep disturbances, separation anxiety, autism spectrum, trauma, SMA, CMT. I believe in positive feedback and trust-building as a form of child-rearing which means talking through emotions and listening to their point of view when age-appropriate. Using this technique I find very little need for discipline (time-outs, cool-downs, taken away privileges). I am a (well managed) type1 diabetic and as a result, I am always over-prepared when going on outings to parks or swimming or walks. Making sure everyone is well fed and exercised while teaching healthy habits. I plan age-appropriate activities, meal preparation/serving, light housekeeping, animal care, bathing, dressing, diaper changing and potty training, bedtime routines, reading stories, practice with age-appropriate education (ABC's, numbers, reading, math, social, hygiene), and exploring their interests. My starting rate is $30/hr and increases with additional children. I look forward to meeting you and your family. Please contact me via email: [email protected].
