Nanny in Windsor, Nova Scotia

I'm an
Individual
Hi! I am a 15 year experienced childcare professional, now working exclusively with families that have children under the age of 3. I am a certified doula, child passenger safety technician, mindful parenthood trainer and lifestyle photographer. I have spent the last 5 years working for a few families, on a random schedule - but now the kids are school aged and my hours are going to be dramatically lower. My passion, and interest, is working with infants through age 2. I prefer this age range and have built up my experience and career around the necessary developmental skills and activities for these children. I am a single woman, with no children at home. That makes it super easy for me to be flexible when it comes to schedules - in fact, most of my clients hire me because I'm willing to work odd hours that are not typical. My most recent family had a musicians schedule, which meant split shifts, long days and often traveling to meet the parents during rehearsal and intermission for breastfeeding when the babies were still nursing. 2 years ago, I was a night nanny for twin girls between the 6week-3month old period. I spent overnights at their home, getting up with the babies overnight for feedings and changes. My certification as a child passenger safety technician means that I am certified to safely and properly use child seats in any vehicle. I am so passionate about child car safety that I have invested in my own seats that I know how to use safely every single time in my own vehicle. I also have appropriate insurance to be able to transport children in my care to community events and activities. My connections with this industry also include access to every day child safety support with Child Safety Link, and I am well versed in infant/child first aid and CPR (although my actual cards are no longer up to date). I am experienced with various types of parenting, from crunchy to modern, attachment parenting and mindful parenthood. I am familiar with and have used many different types of cloth diapers, from modern to the old-fashioned pre-fold with pins style. I have worked with naturopaths and nutritionists to deliver baby-led weaning workshops, and am comfortable with age-appropriate foods and feeding of young children. In addition, I am a natural cook and have attended culinary school - there is nothing I cannot make! (well, maybe souffle.. ) My best friend recently had a daughter who was born at 26 weeks, or 3 months premature. As such, I am now experienced in the fine art and attention a preemie baby requires. I am a fun, easy-going individual who loves babies, and loves pets. I have 3 cats in my home, and a fish tank, but I am also comfortable with dogs and horses. The families I work with appreciate that I regularly send updates through the day of our activities via text or email, and often with photos attached. The children I work with come to know me as a familiar figure in their lives, in some cases seeing me as a 3rd parent. Do you work in a job where taking a day off unexpectedly is a big problem? No issue here. I have a backup sitter in place just in case I am unable to work (illness etc.). She's known as Grandma Kym to my clients, although I call her Mom! Have random shifts, an on-call schedule or a bizarre schedule? No big deal... we'll make it work. I'm available to work in your home or mine, and often will blend the two locations depending on necessity. During the day, we are usually out in the community doing activities such as swimming, library, art, walks in the park, playgrounds etc.
