Nanny in Calgary, Alberta

I've worked for the YMCA for six years, beginning as a youth recreational staff member. My duties in this position were to ensure the safety and participation of members. I would organize and run various after school programming for children ages 3 mo- 13 years. Some examples are playroom (child minding) creative crafts, silly science and various sport focused classes. I later was offered the Grant position, during which my responsibilities were more diverse. I was an acting assistant supervisor for youth programming at the YMCA. I was responsible for assisting with conflict management, and acted as a support for staff members during programming. I have worked as a camp counsellor in Ontario, Québec and Alberta in both official languages. Each of these positions have been unique, and gave me the opportunity to develop my communication skills. I worked for a family as their nanny for two years, working overnights and in the mornings. They have three children, at the time that I began they were 1, 3 and 6. As a teacher candidate, I volunteered at Holland Bloorview Rehabilitation Hospital in Toronto. I worked in a grade 1 classroom with eight special needs children. I was an incredible experience to develop such a strong bond with the students, and gain their trust. I learned many different strategies for effective communication, and I hope to carry these with me as I enter the teaching profession. I've been working for Camp Chief Hector YMCA for three years. I'm big on outdoor education, and learning through play. I'll be entering teacher's college this fall, and am looking for a good match beginning in September 2018.
