Nanny in Guelph, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
(References available below) Hello! Thanks for viewing my profile! I am currently looking for a position for August. About me and my experience: I am Gabriella, 23yo, from southern area of Brazil, where I actually live, teach English as a Second Language and study Psychology Major. For school, I'm attending internships in 3 areas: Clinical Psychology, Communitary Psychology (I work with intelectually disabled youngs and adults) and Scholar Psychology (I work at a Military College, with children and teenagers). I live with my older sister and our dog Dolly. I also have a baby sister from my dad's part, Marina, who is almost 2 years old. For her first year of life, I lived with my dad and my stepmom and helped them with Marina's growth. I have been around kids since I was a kid myself! When I was 17 years old, I started volunteer work at an orphanage called Casa da Criança Peniel, where I worked for 2 years and also in 2013 I was asked to replace an employee who had a surgery for the period of 3 months. So I would take care of 12 kids with another "social mom", for 24 hours and have 48 hours off. It was tiring but the feeling of receiving their smiles back was the best! It worth it! It was a wonderful experience! In 2014-201... I was an au pair in the United States, where I lived with a lovely American Family and took care of 2 beautiful twin babies named Lilly and Rose. They were 7 months old by the time I arrived and I spent 1 year with them. I also attender a doula course, because I am very interested about the process of pregnancy and giving birth, so for soon to be mommies and newborns, I might be able to be a great help! :) I speak English fluently and Portuguese is my mother tongue. I am learning Français now but I know the very basic like "je suis une fille" and "je mange du pain" haha. I drive since I was 18 years old and I love driving! I can't swim like a professional but I am not afraid of the water and can play in the pool and the beach with the kids! My city in Brazil is not close to beaches so for that reason I haven't had the opportunity to learn very well, you'd have to be patient with that! I also like being around animals (specially dogs), playing volleybal (but haven't had much time to do it because of school and work), riding the bicycle and taking walks at the park. For this moment, I am looking for a long term live-in caregiver position because I graduate in Psychology in December. I am energetic, happy, excited, adventurous and flexible and really want to work for a nice family that is able to treat me with respect, as part of their Family, for a period of time (the visa for live-in caregiver is for 24 months and it can be extended after that period). Hobbies: Hiking, traveling, playing the guitar (that does NOT mean I am good at it), taking walks, roller-skating, etc. I also love driving and I have an international drivers license! :) I tried to make it short but feel free to ask me anything you would like! I'd be glad to respond your doubts! Hope to hear from you soon! Sincerely, Gabriella.

Gabi took care of my twin girls for a year. She was the most thoughtful, caring, and kind person I could ask for. I left for work in the morning with the peace of mind that my girls were under diligent care. Gabi loved them like they were her own sisters. We are so lucky we had Gabi in our lives. Our girls still talk about her and have her picture in their bedroom. She had excellent instincts with children and was never overwhelmed, even with two infants/toddlers. She kept them busy all day, always coming up with new activities and bringing them outside. We love Gabi and would highly recommend her to any family with children!

Gabriella has been working as an English teacher for over a year in this instituition, teaching children and teenagers. The classes consistis not only teaching a certain subject, but also educating our students thinking about their development and social relationships. She has always been motivated to learn with other people and keep up with the requirements that we have at school. In addition to her classes, she has to plan all the lessons weekly and has provided them with punctuality. Some students were struggling while learning new verbs, so Gabriella created a table to help her students undertanding on that subject. Her idea was later extended to other classes helping other teachers. She’s also very thoughtful, remembering student’s birthdays and encouraging them to do their best.

Gabriella Dantas Santos is my co-worker. We have been working in the same company for at least a year as English teachers. She is the most committed person I've ever known. She is also responsible, reliable and kind when she is working with kids and teenagers. I really believe she is the right person for this job.

I have known Gabriella for six years in my capacity as a teacher at Catholic University Dom Bosco, for which I work as a professor since 2002. Since Gabriella started the Psychology graduation, I instructed Gabriella for many courses, including Personality Psychology, Theories and Psychotherapeutic Techniques, among others. She earned superior grades in all of these classes and is a real pleasure to have in class. This semester, Gabi attends voluntarily an academic extension program which I am responsible for. In her internship in this kindergarten center, she is responsible for planning and providing Life Skills teaching, leaded in a group of children with ages between 5 and 7 years old, where she works along with two other girls. These abilities, proposed by WHO (World Health Organization) are: dealing with feelings and emotions, self-awareness, empathy, active listening, interpersonal relationships, decision-making, solving problems, creative thinking, dealing with stress and critical thinking. I am really glad that she accepted my invitation to work in this internship because she has a high perception of the kids’ needs and she is very sensitive to their demands, possibly due to her many previous experiences with children. I therefore recommend her for the nanny job.

Choosing someone to take care of children it's not an easy task, especially if those kids are your own. If I were in your shoes I would be very very picky. I wouldn't want just a regular person who would basically feed, bathe and change my kids. I would like someone genuinely kind to kids and someone who doesn't treat kid's as a boring job. That's Gabriella. I can say for sure Gabriella really loves kids. Sometimes when we skype I can see Gabi and her niece and how much they are attached. I believe kid´s have the most innocent love and they will not grow fond of people that dont take good care of them. I also got to see how she treated the tiwns she took care of while we were in the same aupair program. She grew feelings for the baby girls and that made her aupair year a blast. She showed she´s a very responsible girl , in a young age, caring for 2 kids at once. Not everyone could get this challenge and succeed the way she did. Still nowadays she sents me pictures she receives of the girls. She usually tells me very excited how the babies are becoming big girls and all that. Any family would be very lucky to have Gabriella as their nanny. There are not many people around who would be as smart, responsible, playful with kids as she is.
