Hi, my name is Taylor! I am a full-time university student completing a degree in Criminal Justice and Public Policy, with a minor in Youth and Family Studies. Although, I have enjoyed calling Guelph my home for several years, I am originally from Huntsville, Ontario. Growing up in Muskoka, I have developed a love for the outdoors. I have a passion for working with all children and I have spent my last eight summers working for the Town of Huntsville as a Youth Program Coordinator. In this role, I worked closely with the Manager of Recreation and Leisure to create and facilitate inclusionary youth programs, focused on providing an authentic camp experience to all campers. As a Youth Programmer, I lead camp centred activities including canoeing, swimming, crafts, baking etc. I was in charge of overseeing the day to day operations of all summer youth programs, monitoring over 30 staff and 100 campers at any given time. Due to my past work experience, I am very comfortable caring for children of all ages, and multiple children at once. As reflected in my performance reviews, I often receive compliments about my level of professionalism and my ability to appreciate the individuality of each child. I have several certifications that make me an ideal nanny. I am trained in Domestic Violence and Abuse Prevention, Crisis and Intervention, Accessibility, Standard First Aid and I have my High Five Principles of Early Childhood Education Certification. I have completed Driver's Education and I plan to complete my full-license soon (I have my G2 permit). Additionally, I have water safety training, and I am capable of supervising children around the water. I grew up in a culinary based family and have a lot of experience in the kitchen. It would be my pleasure to cook a variety of meals for you and your family! I am confident in my abilities to cook, clean and shop for basic household items. As a Youth Programmer, I have the skills and capabilities to plan guided activities with your child. This could include day trips, science experiments, baking, small games, crafts - you name it! I have an abundance of resources at my fingertips to make sure that your little ones aren't glued to the TV. Need help with school work? I am an honour student that is fluent in speaking English and French. I have experience in facilitating student learning programs, as reflected in my role as a StartonTrack Facilitator and an English Language Peer Helper. As a StartonTrack Facilitator, I provide peer to peer support to first-year university students. In this role, I organize weekly meetings and lead guided discussions surrounding time management, organization, motivation and student wellness. This program is meant to assist first-year students during the transition from high-school to university. As an English Language Peer Helper, I meet weekly with international university students, and lead guided activities to improve English proficiency. Working with youth is not just a job to me, it is a passion. In the future, I hope to work in the legal field, with a focus on promoting restorative justice initiatives among young offenders. I believe that it is important to form strong relationships during childhood, so in the future they have a positive support network.
