I have been an aunty since I was 5 years old to a growing number of 8 children; therefore I started babysitting as soon as I was legally allowed to at the age of 12. I have babysat children ranging from new born to preteen that were either family, friends of family, or neighbours. I am 18 now, as I grow older and babysit less often it has made me realize how much I appreciate spending time with children. I am skilled in creating diverse playtime by making creative and hands on learning activities a priority. Throughout my whole babysitting career I have never been one to just plop a kid in front of a movie and Kraft Dinner. I try to get outside as much as possible and find the positive learning experiences in everything we do. I graduated high school with honours and know how to make homework fun, as I had to make it fun for myself. Whatever the grade or subject is I know how to hunt down fun learning resources and techniques for engagement. Some of my other experiences with supervising children have been volunteering in my schools grade 7 and 8 sewing classes, coaching grade 8 girls’ basketball and working in the Lord Roberts Community Centre canteen where children of many age groups came to kick it after school. I've also worked at Toys R Us for 6 months and have developed professional organizational skills by working with merchandise, as well I've inevitably learned a lot about the movies, video games, tv shows etc. of modern children's culture. Furthermore I've worked in restaurants such as Banana Boat and Freshii where I learned the essentials of maintaining a sanitary kitchen and accommodating dietary needs. I have an open availability of either full-time or part-time and I am willing to live in or out of house. I'd be more than willing to get a Criminal Record Check or Child Abuse Registry. I currently have a learners drivers licence, but plan on having my full by April.
