Hello! My name is Emily, although many people call me Em. I am a warm, energetic, responsible, loving person and I absolutely adore children. I have taken care of children since I was first old enough to be responsible for another person. I love being able to have a positive impact on a child’s life. There is nothing more amazing than being able to help a child grow and learn new things. It gives you an amazing sense of pride when you're able to see a child take their first steps, say a new word or master tying their shoes! For me, it’s not just about being there to supervise children. It's about being involved with them! I'm not someone to sit around and plop your kid in front of the television to mindlessly entertain them for hours. It is important for kids to be active inside and out! If they want to build a fort under the table and hangout in it, I'll be in their with them. I'll sit on the ground and play with trucks, or barbies. I'll run with them at the park and i'll play too. I will let them make messes because thats what kids do! I know what you're thinking, but don't worry! I’ll make sure the house is all cleaned up before you get home. Give me the opportunity to be there to protect and nurture your child or children when you're not able to be with them. I will love and guide them as if they were my own. I have loved and looked after children for as long as I can remember. One example of a family that I worked for was a family that had four boys. I was with this family for four years. When I started with this family there were a set of twins who were one month old, a two year old and a four year old. During the four years I was responsible for a number of things that include but were not limited to; feedings, changing diapers, nap time, play time, outdoor and indoor activities, trips to the park/library, community events, homework when they entered school, night time routines, and much more. I was also responsible for housework such as cleaning, laundry, meal prep, etc. Previously, I had a step-son. I helped to raise him from the time he was 12 months to the time he was four. I spent every day with him and I was essentially his mother figure. He was my responsibility and I cared for him as my own. I understand what it takes day-to-day to be a great role model for a child. Kids are like sponges and they absorb everything. It is extremely important to have the right people in your child’s life when they are growing. The people who you choose to be around your child are the people who will help shape and mould them into the person you want them to become when they get older.
