I'm an
Individual
I am a Queen's University graduate with a degree in Computing and the Creative Arts, which is a unique combination of Art History and Computer Science. Although the majority of my time has been spent at school, the summer months for the last six years have been spent teaching children how to swim and lifeguarding at local beaches in Central Frontenac (just north of Kingston). I began as an assistant swim instructor when I was in high school, but became the Swim Program Coordinator and Head Swim Instructor, which is a position that I held for four years. This requires an immense amount of organization, dedication, and responsibility, all of which I have successfully demonstrated to my employers, as well as my students and their parents/guardians. In addition to teaching swimming lessons, I also have experience in supply teaching, where I am required to manage classes of 20 to 30 students and guide them through their daily routine. My most recent educational endeavour has been at a Montessori school in North York, in which I was a co-teacher in a grade 3/4/5 classroom. My responsibilities included, but are not limited to, lesson planning and lesson instruction, providing help with assignments and homework, and classroom and playground supervision. Although taking responsibility for this large number of children can be overwhelming, I find it extremely rewarding and fun! When I am not studying or teaching, you can find me practicing yoga, enjoying the outdoors, and working on different arts and crafts. Yoga has been an integral part of my life for over six years, as I find it keeps me grounded and level-headed as I go through my life. Outdoor activities often serve the same purpose, specifically canoeing, running, and hiking, all of which keep me happy and healthy. As an Art History graduate, I have a special appreciation for the arts. I love picking up new artistic hobbies, such as crocheting, painting, and most recently, quilting! I am constantly seeking new hobbies but also love to impart my knowledge of such artistic practices with anyone who is willing to learn.
