Nanny in Spruce Grove, Alberta

My name is Brittany, and I have just finished my third year of the Bachelor of Education program at the University of Alberta for elementary. I completed my first student teaching experience in April! I love working with and being around kids, and have a great deal of experience in a variety of settings. I have general first aid, CPR C, AED. I completed High Five training last summer. I am looking for a position nannying for the summer only, as I go back to school in September. I have volunteered in several elementary classrooms, and completed the Study Buddy program volunteering at John A. MacDougal in downtown Edmonton. I taught an arts and crafts class as a volunteer for the Art Start program where I planned and facilitated crafts for inner city kids aged 6-8. Last summer I worked as a senior leader at Summer in the City adventure camps in Spruce Grove where I was responsible for the planning and facilitation of weekly programming, and the care of up to 20 children in any of the 4 age groups (5/6, 7/...) on a weekly basis. This included being aware of any medical concerns within the group under my care, ensuring that each of them has been provided with and eats a sufficient lunch each day, taking groups on bike rides,swimming at various pools, and on field trips around Edmonton. The summer before last, I worked at a summer camp in Edmonton called Pedalheads, where I taught children ages 2-12 various bike riding skills at a wide range of levels. Partway through that summer I received the Canada Summer Jobs Grant, and then my focus became working and assisting with special needs children at camp, and any other children who needed extra support. Through this experience, I was able to work with children with both Autism, and Down Syndrome. I have a reliable vehicle. I love sports, and being outside and active. I perform sunscreen checks religiously, and always ensure that children are properly hydrated!
