Nanny in Burlington, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
Hello! My name is Kassi and I am 26 years old. I recently graduated with honours from Laurier's research psychology program with a minor in education. I focused on developmental psychology with an emphasis on clinical/abnormal psychology. I also completed a post-graduate certificate that focused on mental health and addictions that lead to me working at a youth shelter, and then as an addictions counsellor. I am in the process of applying for a masters degree in social work and I'm looking to be an occasional babysitter for a family. I have experience working with all ages from newborns to teenagers; I started babysitting over 10 years ago and have loved it ever since. I also have experience working with children with autism, OCD, anxiety, behavioural issues, and physical disabilities. I personally deal with food allergies and intolerances, so I understand how important it is to be careful with food preparation if your child has an allergy. I worked at a pet store during my time in high school so I am both comfortable and knowledgeable with all animals. I have done placements at daycares and had a great experience working with teen moms and their newborn babies. I have also worked with refugees at a high school in the ESL program. I've donated my time at food banks and nursing homes and love helping people. I also was the assistant manager at a baby store for 3 years and have learned a lot from my experience there with car seat safety, and I have also gathered a lot of tips and tricks from parents. I love working with children and have always known this is something I want to do for the rest of my life. I have my CPR/First Aid certification, and I also have taken a workshop in non violent crisis intervention, violence prevention, and conflict resolution. Hopefully I won't have to use any of these skills, but it's always better to be over-prepared! I really look forward to finding the right family that I can provide part-time help for.
