****START JANUARY / FEBRUARY 2017***PART TIME LIVE OUT**** We are a busy family of 4, with a boy (8 yr) and girl (13 yrs). For the past four years we have had a live in nanny in our family and in 2017 we are looking for a live out arrangement. We are looking for someone who can help our family after school, and all day on Pro-d days, and school breaks, and we would consider some morning hours if you are available. We live in North Vancouver, BC. Your primary responsibility will be to support and care for our son, pick him up from school, help with homework, supervise etc., but we will expect you to support our 13 year old as needed. She is responsible and does very well managing her own daily schedule, getting herself up and ready on time for school, does homework independently, can cook some basics, manage her dance schedule etc., but will still need support and guidance throughout the week. Our son N is very funny, and very social. He will make friends wherever we go. He has a very good nature, is a happy and always finds a way to make us smile and laugh. He has lots of energy and loves to have fun and play outside, run around, ride his bike. He is learning to ski, plays soccer and baseball. C (daughter) is 13 years old and in grade 8. She is a very caring, sensitive and kind girl. The kids are complete opposites but work so well together. She holds her friendships very close to her heart. She is very involved with her dance. Dad and I are both outgoing. We both love the outdoors. We are a social family, and love having friends over. We love to ski in the winter and camp, bike, hike in the summer. We try to enjoy these things as much as we can. For the past 4 years we have had a live in nanny but starting in 2017 we are looking for a live out arrangement. Your role will be to support how we raise our children, and that includes helping them to become independent and self-sufficient. We encourage less doing it for them and more encouraging them to do things for themselves, so that they make a contribution to their home and lives and it teaches them responsibility. An ideal fit for us is someone who likes to have fun, is responsible, reliable and you are a self-starter. You will believe that good manners are important. You will have demonstrated that you are able to properly managing a household and keep things running smoothly during our absence. Ability to cook would be considered an asset. The role of the aupair/nanny in our family is to help us to maintain good quality child supervision and household management, and maintain a healthy home environment. We like a tidy and organized home to help us keep on top of our busy schedules. Afternoon responsibilities would include: Child Supervision: Pick up son from school (walk is about 7 minutes from home) Help with homework (eg; spelling, reading, math) Monitor screen time (ie; not too much) Supervise afterschool play Supervise playdates During school breaks, plan and coordinate fun activities, taking children on age-appropriate outings. Ensure child safety at all times. Ensure children keep up good manners. Meal Preparation: Preparing nutritious meals and snacks as well as family meal preparation (meat to thaw, cutting, chopping vegetables etc) Updating grocery list (ie; items out of stock) Support daughter, 13 as needed this could include meal preparation before dance. Household Management: I like to keep my house organized and tidy. It helps us all keep on top of our busy schedules. We have a cleaner that takes care of the heavy cleaning. Light housework would be required: unload and loading dishwasher help with laundry tidying up sweeping floor cleaning, with swiffer mop (1-2 times per week) take out recycling/garbage Clean-up (so we dont come home to a messy house) Perform routine housekeeping duties such as but not limited to: cleaning, laundry, bed making Returning the house to the condition it was in upon arrival Clean up kitchen before arrival home from work. Ensure children carry out their daily/weekly responsibilities: o hang up their coats, put shoes away (open up to dry if wet) o unpack lunch bags and bring to kitchen o unpack any homework/school planner/letters home (ready for review) o kids to put away laundry (if any on bed) o Help to unpack dishwasher o Making sure children tidy up their bedrooms Requirements: Must be ok with cats. We have two black cats (one 3 years old, one kitten) Drivers license and safe driving record, would be considered an asset. Must have some flexibility with hours. Must speak very good English Must already be eligible to legally work in Canada Criminal Record Check Working conditions: Family environment. Clean and organized Home centrally located in North Vancouver. We live close to public transit. Hours: I work full time in a busy career M-F, and Dad works out of town in Alberta on rotation and is away 2 weeks and home 1 week. Your work hours will be around this schedule 2 weeks on, 1 week off. 16 to 20 hours per week, afternoons. If you are available for some mornings to take him to school we can discuss this schedule and more hours as well. Full days on school Pro-D days and during spring break, summer break dates can be provided ahead of time for planning. Please note, flexibility is important as work schedule occasionally changes. Pay and Benefits: Negotiable, depending on experience 2 weeks vacation accrual. *Vacation to coincide with family vacation if time to be taken during the summer. Cell phone allowance after 6 months
