Nanny in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Hi there! I'm a 29-year old woman and mother living in Dartmouth. I'm a student of MSVU's Child and Youth Care degree program - where I'm a third-year student completing an honours degree with a minor in developmental psychology - and have previous post-secondary education in Humanities and Communications. I have many years of experience working with children, youth, and families, supporting them across the developmental spectrum - in both private home environments, as well as early childhood education environments. I am a huge proponent of played-based and experiential learning in early childhood, and am intimately familiar with designing inclusive, developmentally-appropriate programming that is child-led, while supported and facilitated by the caregiver. Currently, I hold a casual position as a Child and Youth Care Worker, where I participate in supporting youth through various educational and youth care environments - often working alongside children with behavioural challenges and a significant level of need. Additionally, I will be working temporarily with Autism Nova Scotia during their March Break Respite Camp, where I will be supporting a child on the autism spectrum in a 1:1 capacity in a variety of recreational environments, as well as helping to develop and implement inclusive programming within the structure of the camp. A large part of my university training involves the significance of anti-oppressive and anti-bias practice, intersectionality, cultural awareness and sensitivity, supporting children/youth/families with diverse needs, developmentally-appropriate behaviour guidance, developmental psychology, and program planning attuned to inclusivity. This formal training, in combination with my own lived experience, helps inform the intent of my practice within the early childhood and human services fields. I hold current certification in first aid/CPR-C and trauma-informed NVCI. I have current and clear vulnerable sector, criminal record, and child abuse registry checks.
