Nanny in Vancouver, British Columbia
I'm an
Individual
Dear Parents,
Dia duit! (That means “hello” in Gaelic)
My name is Mary and I am a 26 year old elementary teacher from a town called Portlaoise near Dublin, Ireland. I have an older brother, two younger sisters and a dog called Ben. But they are all at home in Ireland! In Vancouver, I am living with my friend who is also a teacher. We travelled to Vancouver to explore what is has to offer. So far I have fallen in love with skiing and Bikram yoga! I cannot wait for the summer to arrive so I can check out the beaches. I speak fluent English and have degree level Irish. I enjoy travelling and count Prague, New York and Dubrovnik as some of my favourite destinations. I have a passion for the creative arts and I love to write stories, paint, draw, listen to music and go to the theatre to see plays. This enthusiasm greatly influences my style of child care. I love to encourage creativity in children and find that the arts are a superb way to help children explore and realise their own potential.
I have been teaching in the same co-educational school in Dublin, Ireland for the last six years. I love my job. I get such joy from working with children. I have worked with children from 4 years old all the way through to 13 years old as a teacher and I also have some experience working with teenagers up to 16 years old as a volunteer in a creative writing centre in Dublin called “Fighting Words”. Praise, praise, praise is my philosophy in child care. I believe that encouragement is paramount in child development. I decided to become a nanny so that I could experience working with children in a different dimension to classroom teaching. I am currently on a career break and will resume my teaching position when I return to Ireland. I am a Master’s graduate in Trinity College Dublin. My area of expertise is Educational Leadership and Management. I intend to be an elementary school principal in the future. I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Education from St. Patrick’s College/Dublin City University.
I am responsible and reliable. In our school in Ireland I hold a Post of Responsibility in the area of Science. This means that I am in charge of the teaching and learning of curriculum science in our school. I also was voted teacher representative on the Board of Management by my colleagues for four years. I am fun and energetic and love to be involved in activities along with the children in my care. I am patient and have great experience with children of different ages and personalities. I am organised and can multitask with ease. I hope to introduce creative activities to entertain and educate the children I work with. I especially love art, drama, music, sports and science based activities. I feel that my experience as a teacher and passion for working with children makes me an excellent candidate for a nanny position.
I am open to light cleaning duties.
I look forward to meeting you and your family soon!
Sincerely,
Mary
