Nanny in Victoria, British Columbia

I'm an
Individual
Dear Families: Are you looking for part-time help, or is your current nanny not available and you need some quick relief? If so, I may be the right person for you. My name is Hannah, and I am currently looking for part-time work as a nanny/housekeeper for one to three children. As a recent masters of Kinesiology graduate, with experience childhood nutrition and physical activity, I have a vested interest in working alongside children, whether it be to build their knowledge and life skills, or free play and enjoy each others’ company. I am currently looking for a career in my field, however I am available for short-term or on-call positions and have a network of nanny friends that I could contact if you request some long-term help. I am an environmentally conscious individual who lives a healthy and active lifestyle. In my spare time I enjoy cooking and am often making healthy vegan or vegetarian meals. I also enjoy biking and hiking, and am often found outside exploring the beautiful city we live in. I am also very creative and enjoy drawing, painting, photography and jewelry making. I recently completed my research thesis at UVIC, where I examined fruit and vegetable consumption among first year undergraduate students. I have a plethora of past experience working alongside children. I currently work casually at the Fairfield Gonzales Community Association, as a team leader looking after children from kindergarden to grade 5. In this position, I provide care for up to twenty children at a time. I have planned curriculum and organized activities that teach the children about cultural diversity, creativity, social sciences and local history, healthy living and environmentalism. I have organized out trips to Gonzales and Willows Beach, the Beacon Hill park and petting zoo, the Chinese Cemetery and the Oak Bay Library. I have worked previously in the past year as a nanny for two wonderful children (20 months and 4 years old), which included taking the children to various activities, preparing outdoor trips and activities for them in my presence, and light housework and meal preparation. I have obtained my black belt in Karate and have taught self-defense and traditional martial arts for many years in the community, and currently at a university level. I have taught children ages 6-12, as well as adolescents and young adults, as well as those with learning disabilities. Teaching more than fifteen children at once, I have had to be very energetic and flexible in order to capture the attention of the entire class. I have been able to develop appropriate curriculum in my teaching that suits the needs and abilities of those whom I teach. I have had the privilege to volunteer with the MEND program through the Childhood Obesity Foundation, which provides children, along with their families, the tools to make healthy and informed food and exercise choices. I also enjoy sharing my knowledge in health and science with my peers, and am currently assisting professors in teaching anatomy and health wellness to first year university students. Organized by nature, I have been in charge of cleaning and housekeeping in past work positions. At my past research position, I was in charge of organizing and managing over 10 labs, including ordering materials, cleaning scrubs and surrounding environments, and reorganizing filing cabinets and storage cupboards. I am able to think critically and problem solve while participating in group projects, presentations and discussions. During group projects at school, I am often named the project lead because of my ability to provide necessary encouragement and to facilitate tasks in an organized fashion. I currently hold my CPR and First Aid certification, suitable for adults and children, and also recently received training for FoodSafe, Level 1. I have recently taken a criminal record check, for my current volunteer position and can provide an additional check upon request. I look forward to the opportunity of further elaborating on my qualifications for this position in an interview. Kindly, Hannah R. I have a plethora of past experience working alongside children.
