Hello there! My name is Micaela Pirritano and I am a third year student at Capilano University with the ambition to become a Music Therapist, working specifically with children. I have been working with children for 8 years, beginning as a babysitter, then working as a children's Trumpet Instructor. This past summer I worked as a full time Nanny for two lovely children, and it was a wonderful experience. Throughout my time nannying, I developed arts and crafts activities, outdoor activities, and educational games as well as tutoring sessions for both children. I prepared scheduled meals and snacks, and carried out light housework as well. In a nanny position, I believe that every family has their own unique needs that invite me to be flexible and attentive in how I can best contribute to the family. Although I have a variety of different roles within my career in childcare as a nanny, tutor, and music teacher, my philosophy has consistently been centred around being a flexible yet stable support for children. I believe that giving children a sense of independence in a safe environment can allow them to learn. I strive to be there for them as a facilitator of development. I'm comfortable working with all ages of children, and have long-term experience with newborns to age 12. I am first aid and CPR certified.
