Nanny in Montreal, Quebec

hullo! I'm Katey. I'm 25 years old, half Torontonian, half Anishinaabe. I have been living in Montreal for 6 years now (and will be next year), and after getting a B. A. in theatre at Mcgill last year. I have a lot of experience with children over the years, I have worked as a babysitter and a nanny most summers, have worked as a teaching assistant in a kindergarten class, run theatre workshops for kids, and am currently finishing up a 2-year contract as a support worker in a McGill residence. Through my job as a support worker, I received extensive training in anti-oppression, harm reduction, active listening, mental health first aid, crisis intervention, basic first aid & CPR. I'm an extremely creative and caring person and get such genuine joy from spending time with children. I love doing crafts, creating, playing, animals, nature, cooking and cleaning. I have come to realize that my theatre degree has allowed me to reclaim playing in my life. I believe that from a young age, children explore and develop their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual abilities through the creative and imaginative expression of playing. But somewhere along the way when we grow up, we lose that. We allow society to confine the expansive realms of our imagination. Contrary to common belief, not all play is fun. In theatre and for children, it can be a very serious act of discovery, reflection, and discussion. I see playing as one of the foundations and causes of culture and community. Therefore, creating space for children to create and imagine makes playing possible. I strongly believe that the arts can be a tool to weave and re-weave the social fabric to create more inclusive, and thus stronger communities. I would love to foster this kind of space for your child/children. I would hope to use my experience with theatre, and my voracious curiosity for the world and my deep respect and care for others to make a meaningful impact on your child/children.
