Nanny in Thorold, Ontario

Who I Am: My name is Erika Carmichael and I am seeking a sitter work opportunity near St Catharines Ontario. However, I am willing to travel and work someplace else relatively close by. I'm hoping to apply my abilities as a sitter. I am open to work with children of all ages and all abilities. I am available starting September 1st, 2018. I am looking for a part time position as I am a current student at Brock University in the Concurrent Education Program. Services And Training: I am extremely interested in becoming a nanny/babysitter for your family. I started babysitting when I was 12 years old after completing my babysitter course, and have babysit children of all ages since. I have experience working with children from the ages as young as 1 month to the age of 14 years old. I am currently in my 4th year at Brock University in the Concurrent Education Primary/ Junior program. I plan to be an elementary school teacher in the future, and have a lot of experience working with children and youth. I have volunteered in many grade 1-3 classrooms over the past 4 years . Within these classrooms I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of students with different learning abilities. I am currently volunteering at Dalewood Public School in St Catharines where I run a dance team for grade 2-5 students and another team for grade 6-8 students. We practice once a week and I love seeing the students I work with grow as dancers and people each week. I am also volunteering as an LLI instructor currently where I work on reading and literacy skills with children who struggle to meet grade leveled expectations. My ultimate goal when I work with children in this program is to turn struggling readers into successful readers while engaging in appropriate levelled books and literature. For two summers, I have worked as a nanny for a 40 year old women who after a terrible accident, is now living with brain damage and many other health problems. My duties included cleaning, cooking, laundry, driving to doctors appointments, getting her involved in the community, organizing fun activities to do together, and giving prescribed medication on time. Just this past summer, I was a nanny for a 3 year old boy and a 5 year old boy. My duties required me to develop and supervise indoor and outdoor activities when parents were on vacation, trips and work meetings. I taught children safe behaviour, and prepared nutritious snacks and meals for children throughout the day and evening. This job truly prepared me for any future nanny jobs I will come in contact with. I also have experience with life guarding. I worked at Bingemans water park for 5 summers lifeguaring so I understand the importance of safety especially around water, and I am trained in first aid. In high school, I worked for the City of Kitchener where I taught swimming lessons from parent and tot classes, all the way to adult classes. I am very excited about the possibility of working as a nanny/babysitter once again, and am available starting September 1st.
