Nanny Job in Sidney, British Columbia

Location: North Saanich, BC Are you a seasoned Nanny with 5 years of experience, who is passionate about working with infants and families? Do you enjoy being a loving, nurturing and trustworthy caregiver to infants and young children? Working 3 days in our family’s home, you will be responsible for all tasks related to the care of our baby that arrived in the middle of March. You’ll be experienced using the RIE philosophy and/or Montessori education in your approach to infant and childcare, to support an environment where the child is safe, nurtured, and able to learn and grow. We are seeking applicants who are flexible, adaptable, dependable, and understand the needs of busy families. The position will start in May, and hours will be flexible based on varying parental schedules. The position will include evening and overnight coverage on occasion. Key Responsibilities Create a loving, stimulating, nurturing, and safe environment for the child Supervise the child’s activities at all times Plan and prepare bottles Diaper / clothing changes Plan and prepare meals using whole, real foods (when age appropriate for the baby) Follow-through with prescribed daily routines for feeding, sleep schedules, bath time etc. Perform housework related to child care, including washing the child’s clothes, cleaning up after meals, tidying play areas, and washing / sterilizing bottles Teach and reinforce good, respectful manners Play with the children, both indoors and outdoors Plan and execute fun, educational and social activities outside the home, on a regular basis Plan and lead educational activities in the home, including regular reading Reinforce positive behaviours and actions, in line with the RIE methodology and/or Montessori education Job Qualifications and Requirements High school graduate 5 plus years as a private nanny, caring for one or more children Training in early childhood education preferred First aid training and child and infant CPR Car, driver’s license, auto insurance, and safe driving history Authorization to work in Canada English proficiency Reliable, honest, and trustworthy Physical ability to care for a young child Ability to plan, organize, and multitask with minimal supervision Extensive references will be required.
