Hello, my name is Myrna. I am a mature, responsible adult that has 2 adult children, whom I raised as a single parent and homeschooled. I have many years of experience working with babies and children of all ages and backgrounds. From diapering, feeding, teaching numbers and letters, serve and return activities with babies and toddlers to providing care for children dealing with trauma or disabilities. I have gained over 5 years of experience in this field while I was employed at a women's emergency shelter. I believe that many times a child expresses their emotions through actions instead of through words and strive to help them express their emotions in a positive way. I also believe in the power of play and have experience with play therapy. I believe in attachment based activities where you connect with the child before you direct them, as taught by Dr. Gordon Neufeld. A child needs to know they can trust you before they can listen to what you are saying. I apply these things, as well as others to all the work I do with children. I enjoy hearing a child laugh and getting down to their level and really enjoy a time of play. I have trauma informed training, my First Aid & CPR training & a criminalbackground check with vulnerable sector. I own my own vehicle with valid insurance, so I can provide transportation when needed. I can provide meal preparation, as well as some light housekeeping duties. Note: My rates are negotiable & based on duties required/intensity of duties, or if transportation is needed.
