I'm an
Individual
About me & my experience: Hello my name is Dani and I am a fun loving, engaging and experienced childcare provider. My experience in and with childcare spans many years and encompasses a variety of different roles. I started as many do, I took my Red Cross Babysitters certification. I began doing paid babysitting gigs semi-regularly from ages 11-15. As I got older I took a break from providing babysitting as I was busy with school, sports, extra curricular, a part time job and volunteering. With this volunteer work it brought me yet another opportunity to work with children. At 16 I volunteered with a young girl’s empowerment and physical fitness running program called Sole girls. We covered a variety of curriculum on body image, friendships, nutrition among many others. We would then train weekly to work our way towards the end of program goal of completing a 5k with the girls of which I’ve done two. 2 summers ago I became a summer camp counsellor at Simon Fraser university. I worked with children ages 4-12 in a full day program. For this I received a criminal record check for working with venerable persons that is valid for 6 years. (I have also had more recent ones done for other childcare centres my most recent being completed earlier this year). For my position at SFU I also obtained my CPR-C first aid level 1 training which is good until June 2024. At this position I also was able to gain experience working with many children at once as well as children with diverse physical, social and mental needs. I’m September of 2021 I moved to Victoria and gained my Responsible Adult certification. This required me to complete 20 hours of child development and care related education and allows me to supervise up to 15 children in a licensed childcare facility in B.C. With this certification I worked for providing care at both Cloverdale Traditional elementary and Victoria West Elementary during the 2021/22 school year and now currently at Oaklands Elementary. I also am a facilitator of a baby and toddler play group for children 0-5. I have experience with older children as I teach an art course for children 10-14 as well. I able to provide and plan meals or snack for the children. I am ok with additional light housework if discussed ahead of time. I am also willing to provide additional pet care for Dogs and cat but please let me know ahead of time if you would like the additional care and if not please still inform me prior of any animals in the home. As a childcare provider with a creative and artistic background I like to incorporate that into my work. I constantly work to have the children engaged. I’m super outgoing and will not fail to entertain and bond with the kids I work with. If your children are active or physically exercise is something you value I am able to ride a bike, swim and know how to play many sports. I hope this gave you an overview of who I am as a person and more importantly as a caretaker for your children. Experience and certification overview: - 3 year licensed childcare - 9 years overall experience - Red Cross Babysitting Certificate - Criminal record check specific to working with children - Red Cross First Aid level 1 CPR-C valid till June 2024 (renewing June 5th 2024) - responsible Adult Certification - less experienced with children 0-2 - some 3-4 care experience - most experienced with children 5-12 - have worked with 12 Experience with children with disabilities and additional needs: - experience with children on varying parts of the autism spectrum. - non verbal children - children with Asthma, Type One diabetics - experience with ADHD, anger/ aggressive prone and ODD children, children who experience development delays. additional abilities/services: I am able to swim confidently and supervise water play, I am able to ride a bike and would love to take the kids out to the park with theirs. I am comfortable with dogs of any size and am more than willing to allow provide pet care if primitively discussed. I am able to prepare full meals or light snacks and or dinner prep as well. light housekeeping duties is another additional thing I would be willing to take on. I am able to help children with there homework as well if necessary. message my phone number or sending me an email is the best way to contact me to discuss a potential job opportunity. I also am able to provide reference letters from both the head leader from the Sole Girls Organization and the center manager from Simon Fraser University Child Care Society if that is of interest. Thanks for considering me have a lovely day.
