Nanny in Calgary, Alberta

I'm an
Individual
Hi there! My name is Marissa. I have been babysitting since I was 13, and have continued to do so now into my 20’s. I have been nannying/babysitting for 30-50 families full-time for the past two years. My experience ranges from newborns, all the way to teenagers. I am currently looking for families who are seeking part-time, or casual care that fits in my availability. It is important to note that in April I will be graduating from Mount Royal University, obtaining my Bachelors of Education degree. I am hoping to continue to pursue childcare until I am able to find a suitable position in my career; however, the ideal family would be understanding that this means my availability could be short-term or long-term, depending on the opportunities that arise. If you are still interested, please read further to know a bit more about my work. Availability (there is some flexibility for the right family): As I begin to step away from my practicum, and graduate in April, my availability is more sporadic. However, can become more consistent on/after April 19th with consistent daytime availability on weekdays. During my position as a nanny, my first and foremost focus will always be on the children I am working with, and then on any additional needs of the household. Within my work, I am willing and able to provide the following: - Plan and facilitate age-friendly activities and outings (ex. crafts, trips to the park, etc). Families who are comfortable allowing me to take children out of the house to the zoo, heritage park, etc are most desirable. - Meal and snack preparation for children during shift. I am not an elaborate chef by any means, but I have never had any problem prepping meals requested by parents I have worked with! However, I will only participate in meal prep for the children, not the family as a whole due to my lack of experience in that area. - Light cleaning/organization surrounding any activities the children and I have done during the day, as well as support where needed elsewhere in the household during free times (ex. dishes after meal times, sweeping floors, organizing toys, etc). I am willing to add tasks such as cleaning bathrooms, laundry, etc at an increased rate. - Basic pet care, I have experience and am comfortable with dogs and cats of all ages and sizes. I am able to provide food/water, take dogs on walks, etc. - Help with homework/schooling, as a previous education student, I am very knowledgeable about different education methods, curricula, etc. I have experience providing homeschool support and tutoring with previous and current families. - Infant and toddler care. I have experience with formula bottles, breastfed babies, disposable and reusable diapers, nap times, potty training, etc. However, I do ask that you go over any and all routines regarding these items with me to ensure my care aligns with your own routines! - Transportation. I do have my driver's license (with a clean driving record) and my own reliable vehicle which is a newer SUV that is able to hold two car seats. However, if I am required to drive children I do request compensation for gas mileage in addition to my wage. As well, my car is extremely pet-friendly but well taken care of, so children with pet allergies may not be the best fit in my vehicle. & more! If there is anything you specifically need/want to be done during the shift please let me know ahead of time. My rate will be dependent upon how many children I will care for, and the duties involved in my work; however, my base rate is $21 /hr for one child, and will then increase from there based on the number of children/duties involved. Some policies I choose to enforce with my families are as follows: Minimum 48-hour cancellation policy: if you need to cancel a shift, I ask that it is done so 48 hours prior to the shift. If 48 hours' notice cannot be given, I ask for a payment of ½ of the expected income for that shift. 3-hour shift minimum: I am only willing to work shifts that are at minimum 3 hours long, or if payment for that shift is 3 hours worth of our agreed rate. Holiday pay: If I am requested to work on a statutory holiday (christmas, new years day, etc), I would request to be paid 1.5x our agreed-upon hourly rate. Sick policy: If your child is actively showing symptoms of a virus (fever, vomiting, severe cough, etc), I request that shifts be cancelled. Additionally, if I am sick, I will message families with as much notice as possible, and determine if I am still able to work. I have references available upon request. I am also able to provide a vulnerable sector check. Additionally, I am childcare CPR and first-aid certified and can provide proof of certification. I also have extensive experience with children who have severe allergies, and special needs. If you have made it this far, and have any questions, feel free to reach out to me! I will attempt to answer all messages within 24 hours.
