I am twenty one years old, with a bright and bubbly personality. I am currently enrolled in the Adventure Program at Thompson Rivers University. The program offers courses that cover a wide range of adventure activities and theoretical topics. Throughout the program, we are exposed to and gain experience in a vast range of arduous training for numerous different activities including, but not limited to, mountaineering, white water kayaking, ski touring and rock climbing. Along with the scholastic aspect of terrain reading, various mapping skills, assessing and treating medical incidents, different types of leading styles and group management, I have also received eighty hour wilderness first aid training, Avalanche 1 and I am in the process of completing more first aid training. With extensive experience in a variety of positions, I have been able to cultivate many valuable traits such as excellent organizational skills, time management, people skills, and attention to detail. The Adventure Program has taught me how to handle many different types of problems, such as personality clashes within a group and uplifting a guest’s self skepticism.
