Hello Families! I'm looking to work Monday - Friday. I'm a certified teacher and I enjoy spending time with children. With a background in fine art, I would love to share my artistic ability with your children and create fun and interesting projects. I live a healthy and active lifestyle. I enjoy doing yoga, going for walks, hiking and camping. I enjoy learning new things, spending time outdoors and being creative. I have experience as a substitute teacher; teaching K-12. I've taught Grade 5 English overseas. While studying in university I've completed the Calgary Reads program, where I helped a Grade 2 student with their reading and writing skills. I have also completed various professional development courses while in the education program and I consider myself to be a lifelong learner. I have a driver's licence. I really love working with children and watching them learn and grow! On a typical day these are the kind of activities I like to do: -games - play board games, cards, scavenger hunts, memory games, Simon Says, hide and seek -literacy - work on reading, learning letters, numbers, spelling (depending on age) -fine motor skills - learning to be independent in dressing and grooming, developed through arts and crafts -play outside - in the yard/park - bring sporting equipment to the park or a kite; trips to the library for story time, take out new books, play with other kids, and go to science centre -craft or art project - age-appropriate, work on fine motor skills, painting, drawing, cutting/gluing -music appreciation - listen to educational songs learning letters, numbers and phonetics -sensory play - play with rice, lentils, water, sand, play dough -responsibility - have kids bring their dishes to the sink after eating, help with pet care, help clean up after actives -cooking and cleaning - make healthy meals with lots of fruit and veggies, clean kitchen after eating, keep rooms we use tidy, do laundry, light cleaning, and plan actives, prepare crafts during downtime (when kids are in school, having naps) Please feel free to message me if you have any questions.
