I am currently attending the St. Thomas University Bachelor of Education program. My first internship was grade 3 and 4 split class where I learned the importance of organization. The 3/4-split class taught me how to efficiently manage a classroom and balance two curriculums at the same time. In order for a split class to run smoothly the teacher needs to be prepared for all unexpected occurrences and constantly adapting to situations. My second placement was in a grade 2 class where I became familiar with teaching strategies such as the Daily 5 which taught students literacy through several different approaches. During my second internship I also hosted a grade 2 art club where students were able to make two art projects. Through out my internships I realized that in the profession of teaching you are a constant learner and the students have just as much to teach you as you do them. The success I have experienced working with students in my internships has aided in refining my techniques as teacher. I am looking to travel and get some more experience with children.
